Best Things to Do in Paros Greece | Essential Travel Guide
The island of Paros was probably our favorite place we visited on our trip to Greece. It was stunningly beautiful, picturesque, quaint, and not as touristy as some of the other popular islands like Mykonos or Santorini. We truly felt like we were in the movie Mamma Mia — with the white cobblestone streets and the traditional blue and white buildings, Paros will exceed your expectations for a Greek island and you will never, ever want to leave.
How to Get to Paros
You can fly into the island, but the ferry system in Greece is a well-oiled-machine and works insanely well. The ferries are on time, reliable, and efficiently get you to nearly every island you want to visit. The ferry is also a lot more affordable that any other mode of transportation. Our favorite was The Blue Star Ferry, but nearly any ferry will get you to where you want to go.
We left from the Piraeus Port in Athens and bought our tickets a few days in advance on Ferryhopper. Ferryhopper is a fast, easy, and secure website where you can buy Ferry tickets for any of the Greek islands. The ferry from Athens to Paros took about 4 hours and made stops at a few other islands along the way. When you arrive in Paros you will be in the port town of Paroikia which was our favorite city on the island!
Where to Stay in Paros
There are two main cities where people typically stay in Paros, it’s either the port town Paroikia, or the northern boat town of Naoussa. Naoussa was also beautiful, but more of party town. Paroikia was more relaxed and chill and even though it’s near the port it doesn’t feel toursity at all. If you plan to spend a few days in Paros, you can even stay in both towns, which is what we did!

How to Get Around Paros
Once you are settled in one of the towns, you can walk around that area without needing transportation. But if you want to go from one town to another, or explore other areas of Paros like the mountains or the beaches, then you will need something to get around. Renting a motorbike or ATV was the most popular, but you can also rent a car or take the public bus. The bus works great and is very affordable, I believe it was only €1.50 (or less) to go from Paroikia to Naoussa!
