BEAUFORT COUNTY, N.C. (WCTI) — Archery hunter ties record with a 780-pound black bear catch in Beaufort County.
On Saturday, Dec. 16 an archery hunter harvested a massive bear that ties for fourth place in North Carolina for weight alone.
N.C. Wildlife states this catch appears to be the largest black bear recorded by an archery hunter within North Carolina.
In 2012 and 2013 Washington and Craven County had two black bears that weighed in at a whopping 780 pounds.
Records state that the top three black bear kills are at listed at 880 pounds, 784 pounds followed by 782 pounds.
