“Terminator 3″ helmer Jonathan Mostow has come on board to direct Sam Worthington and Hailee Steinfeld in indie action-thriller “For the Dogs,” replacing Phillip Noyce.
Producers are planning a fall shoot on the project. Anthony Rhulen and Navid McIlhargey will produce thourgh their FilmEngine Entertainment shingle along with Worthington, John Schwarz and Michael Schwarz through their Full Clip Prods. banner along with screenwriter Paul Leyden and Gregory Browne of Anthropology Films.
Story, based on Kevin Wignall’s novel of the same name, centers on a solitary assassin who agrees to help a bright college girl exact revenge on those who mercilessly murdered her parents and younger brother. The script was adapted by Oren Moverman, who wrote and directed “Rampart” and “The Messenger,” from Leyden’s adaptation of the novel.
Mostow’s directing credits include “Surrogates” and “U-571.” Worthington was most recently seen in “Wrath of the Titans” and “The Debt.”

Variety reported last month that FilmEngine and Benderspink are teaming to reboot 2004′s “The Butterfly Effect” with original writer-director Eric Bress on board to pen the new script.
Sierra/Affinity launched international sales for the project for buyers in Berlin. Paradigm will be handling domestic sales.
