Twin Peaks Episode 2022 – Dark Frames Removed

I recently shared a video of the Miss Twin Peaks contest from Episode 2021 with the dark frames removed and the strobe effect minimized. It was neat to see the action unfold without the constant flashing. As it turns out, this short clip was also beneficial to fellow Twin Peaks fans who have sensitivity to strobes. I did the same thing for scenes in the Red Room from Episode 2.022 (#29). The results revealed a few additional details I hadn’t noticed before.

TWIN PEAKS EPISODE 2.022 WITH DARK FRAMES REMOVED

Here is a 4 1/2 minute video containing five different scenes from the Red Room with the removed items. I also added a brief clip of deleted scenes of the Little Man from Another Place and BOB found in the Atmospheric videos on the 2014 Blu-ray set.

There is no dialogue but I included one of my favorite tracks from the Twin Peaks Archive collection – “Dark Mood Woods (Studio Version).” Ah, this track is the best!

To create this video, I extracted each frame from these scenes. I then deleted frames that were either completely dark or mostly dark. The remaining images were imported to iMovie with the photo duration and transition time set to 0.1.

FAVORITE IMAGES FROM THE RED ROOM

I still vividly recall the first time I saw this episode on Christmas Eve in 1993. What did I just watch? And that’s the ending?! I then accompanied my parents to midnight mass where I had plenty of time to contemplate. Over time, this episode has become one of my favorites. Here are a handful of individual scenes that caught my eye.

This shot of Special Agent Dale Cooper is used several times throughout the episode. Such bravery!

Later in the episode when Cooper is watching Killer BOB and Windom Earle, they actually reverse this image. Compare the top of his tie in the two photos above.

Shortly after Cooper enters, there is a brief scene of the Little Man from Another Place looking at the camera while Jimmy Scott croons.

Gosh I love Jimmy Scott! When I hosted the Sunday Night Flight on WONB 94.9 FM in Ada, Ohio during the mid-1990s, I ended my shows by playing “Sycamore Trees.” My subtle way of sharing my obsession with the world. Check out his 1992 album “All the Way.”

Questions in a world of blue – the Agent Cooper edition.

Windom Earle is one of my favorite characters. Ken Welsh does an outstanding job conveying his madness. There is a very brief scene of Windom smiling that flashes when “Laura Palmer” is screaming.

During this sequence, you’ll spot a negative image of Windom.

Using Photoshop, I reversed the image to uncover this scene. It looks like he’s in the Red Room and Cooper’s head is barely scene on the right.

At first, I thought it was this scene of Agent Earle smiling at Coop.

Upon closer examination, I believe it’s from the scene where Windom Earle stabs Agent Cooper. It’s probably a different take framed similarly to the top image of Earle. His stabbing image expression seems to match the negative image. Plus Cooper is slightly higher than Earle which accounts for his positioning in the negative photo.

Ken Welsh must have loved playing Windom Earle. He’s certainly the character I would enjoy portraying. The scenes with Killer BOB and him are great. Just watch Welsh’s expressions throughout the entire scene. So good!

This man is on fire! Just look at the expressions. I also didn’t realized that for some of the scenes between Windom Earle and BOB, we see part of Cooper’s arm. It’s like he (and us) are watching the madness together.

Yet another sequence that must have been a delight to play. Frank Silva did such an excellent job as BOB. And Kyle is living his best life.

Love these shots when BOB and Cooper get close to the camera. The latter is the stuff of nightmares.

The last image is from the Atmospheric videos on the 2014 Blu-ray set. Such a great image of the Little Man from Another Place and BOB. I wonder why they were deleted.
