These slabs of petrified wood are so wonderful, each polished beautifully while still allowing the natural texture of the original wood bark on the sides. They truly are little pieces of ancient history that you can hold in your hands!

These pieces of petrified wood are each around 4"-5" on their longest sides. A few are more square with slightly shorter longest sides, but each equal out to about .33 - .5 lbs. Each comes with their own acrylic stand, just like the one in the picture.

While each piece of petrified wood is unique, all are equally beautiful! You can trust us to intuitively choose the perfect piece for you!

History | Science

The process creating Petrified Wood, perimineralization, happens over thousands of years when a piece of wood just happens to fall into mineral-rich water, mud, or volcanic ash. While most wood will decompose, the lack of oxygen in these environments slows down natural decomposition. The wood then undergoes the transformation of minerals seeping into the porous wood and replacing organic material as it breaks down over time.
As each tree is unique and the exact minerals available in the spot where it falls are unique, as well, each piece of petrified wood is a one-of-a-kind piece of art, as well as a beautiful piece of ancient history.
Petrified Wood can be found all over the world, and these particular pieces were found in Madagascar.
