Saskatoon weather: Snowy and windy with risk of frostbite

Temperatures are ranging below seasonal averages for the next few days, with blowing snow expected throughout.

It’s -16 C at Saskatoon Diefenbaker International Airport this morning, with 57 km winds and 71 km gusts coming out of the northeast and a wind chill making it feel like -31.

A winter storm warning is in effect this morning, with strong wind and blowing snow expected for the next two days. City crews have been out clearing snow as it falls, but it’s still necessary to be cautious on the roads today.

Today: Snow at times heavy and blowing snow. Amount 5 cm. Wind northeast 60 km/h gusting to 80 becoming north 40 gusting to 60 near noon. Temperature falling to minus 18 this afternoon. Wind chill minus 25 this morning and minus 31 this afternoon. Risk of frostbite.

Tonight: Light snow ending late this evening then mainly cloudy. Wind north 30 km/h gusting to 50 becoming light overnight. Low minus 28. Wind chill minus 31 this evening and minus 39 overnight. Risk of frostbite.

Tomorrow: A mix of sun and cloud. Wind up to 15 km/h. High minus 19. Wind chill minus 39 in the morning and minus 28 in the afternoon. Risk of frostbite. UV index 1 or low. Clear overnight. Low minus 30.
