Former Prime Minister Brian Mulroney Dead at 84

 

Former Prime Minister and Conservative stalwart Brian Mulroney has passed away at the age of 84.

The former Tory died peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday.

The House of Commons adjourned their proceedings yesterday after learning of Mulroney’s passing.

Mulroney won leadership of the PC Party in 1983 who went on a commanding run during the 1984 federal election winning a majority and the largest number of seats in Canadian history.

In 1993 Mulroney said it had come time for him to step aside after doing his very best for the country, resigning with the reins handed to Kim Campbell, the first woman to become Prime Minister.
