The CIA has revealed a huge stash of images and video recovered from the personal files of Osama bin Laden, including the YouTube sensation ‘Charlie Bit My Finger’.

The 2007 clip, which sees a toddler reacting to his infant brother biting his figure, was among the more surprise files revealed in the large collection of files belonging to the former Al-Qaeda leader which were released by the CIA yesterday.

Howard Davies-Carr, the father of Charlie and his brother, told the Huffington Post: ‘I don’t know how to react.

‘It’s hard to take in. You never can tell who has a lighter side. It’s hard to imagine he’s planning terrible things one minute and then laughing with his family over this the next.’

Other unexpected choices included a number of crochet tutorials, including one video titled ‘How_to_Crochet_a_Basket’.

As the title suggests, the simple clip offers a straightforward tutorial on how to crochet a basket.

The 9/11 mastermind was also a surprise fan of cartoons including Tom and Jerry, as well as British comic staples such as Mr Bean and Wallace and Gromit.

However, there was also sinister content of executions and beheadings among the collection, with the CIA warning: ‘The material in this file collection may contain content that is offensive and/or emotionally disturbing. This material may not be suitable for all ages. Please view it with discretion.’

The files were first obtained by the CIA after he was killed in a 2011 raid on a compound in Abbotabad, Pakistan.

Describing the release of the videos, a statement from the CIA said: ‘CIA Director Mike Pompeo authorized the release in the interest of transparency and to enhance public understanding of al-Qa‘ida and its former leader.’
