Awesome stem plant, beautiful, fast grower and friendly for beginners and advanced plant keepers alike, I discovered this plant in late 2018 and have never seen it in fish stores. Also called ‘Star Grass’.
Grows fast in tropical temperature or cold water tank, I’ve grown it in low tech, high tech, soft water, hard water, acidic and alkaline- I genuinely have no idea why this plant is not more popular in the hobby, the only other plant that can rival this plant is Hygrophila Polysperma which is more common.
Final Thought
This plant is my ‘go to’ plant when advising beginners to the planted tank hobby, it really doesn’t have a downside! fast growing and undemanding this plant can keep your aquarium clean and healthy by eating up excess nutrients that would otherwise lead to algae.
With CO2 the growth rate become truly ludicrous! Fantasy Fields had a very difficult time stabilising and I can say without reservation that this plant was a key component in finally bringing that aquarium under control.
Try Heteranthera Zosterifolia if you are having trouble keeping your aquarium green!
