Political Views Many leaders of Islahi Movement took active part in India’s freedom struggle, the movement in general has not shown any political ambitions. It does not bar its members from joining any political parties except those who have a political ideology, which is against the principles followed by the movement.

Political Views Islamist ideology, specifically of the militant breed, often positions itself in opposition to Western society. The United States, specifically, is greatly opposed by most Islamist terrorists, scholars, and leaders. Criticize the United States for what they see as immoral secularism.

Al-Qaeda Ideology The principal stated aims of al- Qaeda are to drive Americans and American influence out of all Muslim nations. Al-Qaeda views its struggle as a long-term war with seven distinct phases. Phase one is the "awakening" in the consciousness of Muslims worldwide following the September 11, 2001, suicide attacks. The aim of the attacks was to provoke the US into declaring war on the Islamic world and thereby mobilizing the radicals. Abderraouf Jdey

Al-Qaeda Ideology Phase two is "Opening Eyes", the period we are now in and which should last until 2006. Hussein says the terrorists hope to make the "Western conspiracy" aware of the "Islamic community" as al- Qaeda continues to mould its secret battalions ready for battle. Phase three, "Arising and Standing Up", should last from 2007 to 2010, with increasingly frequent attacks against secular Turkey and arch- enemy Israel. Adam Yahiye Gadahn

Al-Qaeda Ideology Phase four, between 2010 and 2013, will see the downfall of hated Arab regimes, including Saudi Arabia and Jordan. Oil suppliers will be attacked and the US economy will be targeted using cyber terrorism. Phase five will be the point at which an Islamic state, or caliphate, can be declared — between 2013 and 2016. Phase six, from 2016 on, will be a period of "total confrontation". As soon as the caliphate has been declared, the "Islamic army" will instigate the "fight between the believers and the non-believers" that has so often been predicted by al-Qaeda's leader, Osama bin Laden. Adnan G. El Shukrijumah

Al-Qaeda Ideology Phase seven, the final stage, is described as "definitive victory".

Military Efforts "Al-Qaeda" ("The Base") was developed by Osama Bin Laden and others in the early 1980's to support the war effort in Afghanistan against the Soviets. The resulting "victory" in Afghanistan gave rise to the overall "Jihad" (Holy War) movement. (FBI) In 1994 disillusioned mujahideen members formed the Taliban with refugees from Pakistani refugee camps 1988, al-Qaeda chieftain Osama bin Laden declares war on the US.

Attack’s Attributed to Al-Qaeda

Enemies And Allies When it comes to the teaching about the Qur’an there is a very different following when it comes to the extremist nature of some of these groups of Mujahideen. They have many enemies both in their own religious followings as do they from other religious sections of the world for the way they have decided to carry out what they believe to be there God’s will..

Enemies And Allies On the same note they also have a large following in both government structures who support these organizations through funding and shelter. You can not always determine who is an enemy or a friend because many of these followers will not let it be known because of the ramifications.

Mujahideen Fighting in Soviet War CIA trained & funded Commanders seldom missed opportunity to enhance their prestige Exploited by offering training & weapons to those who went on specific missions

Mujahideen Fighting in Soviet War If succeeded they received more training & weapons. Thus controlling arms and training (by CIA) Training system was fundamental; training was mission oriented.

Mujahideen Fighting Techniques While under attack, they move backwards Operated in tiny, semi-autonomous groups who adapted well to change Only needed little guidance from above Knew the enemys sensative spots; highways( supply & re-supply), aircraft on the ground, their power supplies, dams, bridges, pipelines, isolated posts or convoys.

Mujahideen Method of Attack Knife between shoulder blades Sniping Briefcase bombs Long range rocket attacks Kept Soviet in defensive position not allowing them to mount an offensive opperations.

Mujahideen Method of Attack Fire to inflict casualities Bombard posts with Heavy Weapons by night at long range Move closer to fire morters Set 30-40 men to surround position At short range open up with machineguns, RPG’s and rocket launchers

Tactical Short Comings Neglects to provide local security while deep within their own territory Uses the same ambush sites over and over again
