Pizzeria Delfina Touches Down in Downtown San Francisco

Don’t miss the bathroom wallpaper

It’s officially possible to get a taste of Mission favorite Pizzeria Delfina in downtown San Francisco: Annie and Craig Stoll’s fifth location is now open at 688 Mission Street, joining Pizzeria Delfinas in Pacific Heights, Palo Alto, and Burlingame.

The new restaurant offers 46 dining seats, 14 counter seats, and will eventually include a 22-seat sidewalk patio. It follows Pizzeria Delfina’s tradition of Neapolitan-inspired pizzas and Southern Italian antipasti, pasta, and piatti with a menu that changes every Wednesday.

It’s also once again designed by Envelope A+D, with white tile, California black walnut, modern light fixtures, bright yellow furnishings, and a huge mural of San Francisco (every Pizzeria Delfina hosts a mural of the San Francisco Bay, as inspired by Bay of Naples murals that crop up all over Naples). This one comes from artist Shawn Bullen, who painted the city from the vantage point of Dolores Park with an urban, New York aesthetic. San Francisco and Italian landmarks — the Golden Gate Bridge, the Trevi Fountain — are both incorporated. The bathroom is decked out in bright pink wallpaper based off of a 1955 photograph taken of St. Peter’s Square in Rome — and includes an image of Any Warhol wearing a striped shirt in the style of Where’s Waldo?
