Marc in skirt X3

At Marc Jacobs

At Marc by Marc Jacobs

At Andre Leon Telley’s party

We’ve seen many man-skirts at the menswear shows back in June and now Marc is literally rocking it… with his unshaven look (a sign of stress?). Yes or no?

As much as I loooove gay/metro guys, usually I think that guys can’t pull off skirts without raising the eyebrow of, well, everyone. Marc did a great job with his skirts though…I think they look really good on him, and the way he is sporting them they look masculine which might make people think more casually about man-skirts. In the future, I have a feeling that skirts will be more normalized in our culture for men.
In a recent issue of Runner magazine, there was a woman in a “running skirt” on the cover and a whole five page article about the running skirt! Its like a wave of branching out and breaking down stereotypes of the functions and sexes that our daily clothes apply to, and its really cool to see happen!

The facial hair makes him look rugged and the hint of gray is sexy. His legs look divine in those skirts!

    Statements?! or trying too hard??

I think he looks fine and the concept of mens skirt, I’ve always been open about it.

Men in skirts? Well, I think even women should avoid them, stick to overalls and all will be well…

I am a normal straight guy and I want to have the freedom of choice to wear a skirt. Society still criticises men who wear a skirt as being gay. I am sure of my own sexuality and I choose to wear a skirt. That doesn’t change me at all. If I could confidently walk around in public in a skirt without being harassed and made fun of, I would have been wearing the skirt back in the days of my teens. I am 26 FYI

That is overdue. I would love to see skirted men more often. That is the bridge I’m waiting for because when men wearing skirts women finally at that point we call emancipation with the same rights. I hate to say it, but I don’t like always the double standards we are facing every day. Men are allowed to that, women not, or, of course, opposite. Skirted men would bring the standardized, sexualized and uniformized world to an end, and more health to male bodies, too.
However, the history tells us, that women adopted the skirt from the men, because women only were allowed to wear long dresses in past. Now we are at the end, pants already adapted too, back to the wardrobe of men with the refreshment of skirts – really, I could not find one single reason why men should not wear skirts.

Just change…. to go for that what you like to wear. Men ususally afraid to try new things, especially when it comes to clothing styles which was manly used by women. This men just have problems with their masculinity. A straight man can wear what he want, he will always be straight.
That is one of my points: Why we are sexualizing the world, we started with clothes and now even cars getting the same way? Just for business? Is that a purposly initiated diversity, but just focused to men? In case of dressing the world for women is completely open, they can wear what they want, there is no stop at all using “men’s” clothes and dressing style. Cars getting “women’s” cars because they like to drive it, it’s a cute car, looking nice, etc. And how about men?
In old times gender played a role in the society for that what has to be done in the world, but all has changed. But not for men in common understanding. How come?
How about using the right side of the brain too, which means creativity and innovation also for men’s clothes?

Men do wear a skirt in India -it is called dhoti/ Lungi -that is very traditional and no one makes fun of them.
I would say there is lot to learn from Old Indian culture. It was quite normal to have gay marriages in India in the past etc.
I do not want to say how and who changed Indian way of life perception -but Indians I would say are quite advanced…
    Yes , I am a proud Indian
