Grammy-winning songwriter and recording artist Alicia Keys will give a special one-night-only concert at The Public Theater December 4. Tickets for the gala evening, to be titled Alicia Keys: An Evening With the Composer, start at $2,500. The Off-Broadway company is currently hosting the world premiere of Keys' autobiographical jukebox musical Hell's Kitchen on the Newman Stage, where Keys' concert will also be held.

Hell's Kitchen is set to continue through January 14, 2024.

Tickets for Alicia Keys: An Evening With the Composer are available by calling (212) 539-8694, visiting PublicTheater.org, or by emailing [email protected].

Proceeds from the gala will support the non-profit company, one of many theatrical institutions nationwide still struggling to rebuild from pandemic-related losses. The company was forced to reduce staff by 19 percent in recent months, along with cancelling its Under the Radar Festival of experimental theatre (the latter has since reemerged with new artistic hosts).

Hell's Kitchen officially opened November 19—read reviews here. Inspired by Keys' own life, the new show features music and lyrics by the 15-time Grammy winner (three songs are newly written for the work) and a book by Kristoffer Diaz. The story centers on 17-year-old Ali and her mother, sharing a cramped apartment near Times Square. Ali wants to live out her NYC dream, but Mom is scared her daughter will repeat her own mistakes.

Leading the cast are Maleah Joi Moon as Ali, opposite Shoshana Bean as Ali's mother Jersey, Brandon Victor Dixon as Ali's father Davis, Chad Carstarphen as Ray, Vanessa Ferguson as Tiny, Crystal Monee Hall as Crystal, Jakeim Hart as Q, Chris Lee as Knuck, Jackie Leon as Jessica, Kecia Lewis as Ali's piano teacher Miss Liza Jane, Mariand Torres as Millie, and Lamont Walker II as Riq.
