CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> The Pineapple Express is a specific type of atmospheric river that originates near Hawaii. Tropical moisture builds up in the Pacific Ocean near the Hawaiian Islands and is picked up by prevailing winds. The pineapple wording in the name is a nod to the 50th state’s famous fruit. That moisture is then delivered to the Western United States, capable of producing heavy rain and snow.

What’s in store this week and next week could be a dangerous scenario unfold across California.  Now, those of us in Southern California will have to wait a few more days after the start of Central and Northern California’s warning.

According to Southern California Weather Force this will bring the snow-level up and therefore the snow that is already on the ground will melt and the water could cause to flood into the rivers and creeks, causing yet another flooding scenario for the Inland Empire valleys.

The first round will start Friday morning/afternoon into the night with about one inch of rain in the Valley and about 1 to 2 inches in the mountain. Snow level will be very high at 9,000 feet. This will melt some snow and the temps will be warm.
