Brooklyn Decker asked her best friend to look at her vagina after giving birth to her son because she needed to know what was happening “down there.”
“My best friend came that day [I had my son] and she at that point had not had children,” Decker, 34, recalled on People’s “Me Becoming Mom” podcast. “And I’m like ‘Jen, I can’t look at [my vagina] because I think it’ll traumatize me forever but I need someone to take in what’s happening down there.'”
The “Grace and Frankie” star — who shares 6-year-old son Hank and 4-year-old daughter Stevie with husband Andy Roddick — took her friend to the bathroom and “literally bent over.”
“[I] had my best friend just take a physical record of what was going on so someone could tell me what was happening,” she said. “Because so many people had commented on like stitches and this and that.”
Decker’s friend told her she had the image of her friend’s intimate area “seared in her brain.”
“And yes, now she has to carry that with her the rest of her life. That’s friendship right there,” the model said.
The “Just Go with It” actress is no stranger to getting candid about her postpartum journey. Last year, she recalled feeling like a “zombie” after the birth of her first child.
“This was me 6 years ago. 1 week after I gave birth to my son. So much blood. So much bruising. Pads and wipes and mesh underwear galore. I was a zombie,” she recalled in an October 2021 post.
“It was a shocking experience and not at all unusual.. the reason it was so shocking is simply because I wasn’t prepared,” she explained. “No one really talked in depth about the challenges of childbirth recovery. So I started making homemade kits for my girlfriends listing out all the gory details.”
Decker started dating tennis superstar Roddick in 2007 tied the knot in April 2009.
