After three years working for the country’s leading fashion magazine, you’d think that Betty Suarez would pick up a tip or two about the benefits of the right relaxer, or how one print doesn’t need three more layered on top of it. Well, in season four you will start to see some changes to Betty’s appearance — and here is your first look at the work in progress.

While shooting a scene today in New York City, a few noticeable changes were evident in America Ferrera’s costume. First, the hair: It not only now resembles actual hair in texture and appearance, but her bangs were cut into a face-flattering, side-swept style. As for her eyebrows, they’ve been slightly shaped and call to mind that scene in “A League of their Own” where the snotty woman says, “eyebrows, thin and separate. There should be two.”

Moving on to Betty’s clothes — historically her Achilles’ heel — I’m happy to say that they not only belong to the same color family but are the correct size and shape for her body. Obama was right, this is change we can believe in! Although, we might be the only ones.

According to EW.com, ABC execs are worried about glamming Betty up too quickly in the audience’s eyes and have been holding focus groups to make sure the makeover doesn’t “compromise the essence of the Everygal.” Personally, I think it’s been a long time coming and slightly overdue — as for the braces, they’ll be off by the end of season four! Bring on the candy apples!
