Truth is a dish best served cold.
Elizabeth Hurley, 57, is the latest of several A-listers to speak about Perry, 53, after the release of his memoir, “Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing,” which is full of anecdotes on his career, relationships and personal life.
The British actress, who starred in “Serving Sara” with Perry back in 2002, has only read pieces of Perry’s book though she witnessed the gravity of his addictions firsthand.
“I haven’t actually read the book yet, but I’ve read [excerpts] of it,” the “Royals” star divulged to Yahoo.
“It’s quite interesting,” Hurley added. “He’s a very funny writer like he’s a very funny man. He’s an incredibly gifted comedian … his way with words is fantastic.”
The model went on, “I have very fond memories of him. To be honest, it was a nightmare working with him at that time and, as it’s now known, our movie was shut down because of his addiction.”
Hurley was referring to the shutdown of the movie “Serving Sara,” in which Perry plays a process server tasked with serving Hurley’s character divorce papers.
“We were in a force majeure and had to all sit at home twiddling our thumbs for some time,” she said.
Hurley continued: “It was tough, obviously he was having a tough time, but he was still very charming and a lovely person to work with. But you could see he was suffering for sure.”
Perry described his drug addiction in his memoir and has been candid about his sobriety journey.
The Canadian native is perhaps best known for his role as Chandler Bing on the NBC sitcom “Friends,” which he starred in from 1994 until 2004.
He filmed “Serving Sara” amid his tenure on the hit show while he was at the height of his addiction.
The “17 Again” star revealed to Diane Sawyer in a bombshell tell-all interview that aired late last month that he downed Xanax, Methadone and a quart of vodka daily during that period.
“It was shot in Dallas and I was doing ‘Friends’ at the same time, so it doubled my workload. And I was flying on a private jet drinking vodka out of a water bottle,” he said.
“I weighed 155 pounds, on my way to 128 pounds. I feel too sorry for that guy, he’s going through too much, and it’s me,” Perry went on. “And I remember that, and I didn’t understand what was going on.
“But again, I’m sorry, and I’m so grateful to not be that anymore.”
