Cars often speed by of Rossville Boulevard without pumping their brakes.

But what retired Chattanooga Reverend Bill Bond saw on a billboard in Fort Oglethorpe a week and a half ago stopped him in his tracks, so to speak.

"I was at a stop light. looked up and did a double take," said Rev. Bond.

Rev. Bond is talking about a now-removed billboard featuring Former President Donald Trump.

It reads "Unto us a son is given and the government shall be on his shoulders."

"There is no person that can take the place of Jesus Christ," said Rev Bond.

A reference to a verse in Romans caps off the billboard.

Although, Bond believes the billboard language is alluding to Isaiah 9:6 which says "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."

"The scripture says Jesus is not that interested in politics. Jesus is interested in individual lives, telling us to love each other to love God and to best of all love our enemies. I'll put it this way, there will probably not be songs of President Trump's loving, praying and doing good for his enemies," said Rev. Bond.

Workers at CARCO Motor Company which is situated just below where that billboard sat say it was up only about a week before the change of scenery.

Meanwhile, Michael McNabb who works a couple of businesses down the street says he misses the view.

"I feel that whoever put it up was a coward for taking it down," said McNabb.

We asked McNabb how he feels about President Trump being compared to Jesus.

"I don't really compare Trump to Jesus. I mean, Trump stands for God. He stands for America," said McNabb.

Reverend Bond doesn't feel the same way , to say the least.

In tweet that's now started a national conversation he says this looks like "Georgians are redefining blasphemy."

"I was doing an exorcism. I saw it and could never unsee it," said Rev. Bond.

It's unclear who sponsored the billboard's message.

We reached out to Reagan Outdoor Advertising, the company that owns the sign.

This story will be updated when we hear back.
