The individual flowers of hairy wild petunia only last for a day or so but are frequently replaced with new flowers for several months. They are visited by a number of bees and other pollinators. It is easy to grow this plant in a wide range of conditions, though it does best in sunny areas that stay somewhat dry. This is a long-lived perennial that spreads by seed. The seed capsules pop open and can propel the seed several feet.
