Table Talk: Maple syrup producers launch sweet fundraiser for kids

Shoppers who buy a can of maple syrup printed with a red bow in IGA stores from now until Dec. 31 will be helping the fight against children’s heart disease.
It’s the annual fundraiser of the Quebec Maple Syrup Producers, who donate one dollar per 540-ml can sold to the Ste-Justine UHC Foundation, up to $25,000. The money will go to the foundation’s pediatric centre for heart disease prevention and rehabilitation, called CIRCUIT.
The maple syrup producers have two other promotions underway for the month.
A collection of maple-flavoured cake recipes is available on line by visiting http://ilovemaple.ca/festive-cakes/. You can choose your filling, icing and decorations for your choice of cake.
A free illustrated booklet of 11 recipes for maple-flavoured meats, condiments, cookies and drinks is available in IGA stores. Called Noël à l’érable, it is only in French.
