  1. Great shot of one of my favourite local characters. Sunflowers are absolutely voracious, destroying everything in their path. I call them “death stars”. (Anybody else from the 70s?) But unlike most starfish, they’re soft and squishy, like a puddle of tapioca full of spiny rice. After trying to lift a few and almost tearing them in half, I just swore off picking up any that were too big to work my hands under.
