The change of ownership to Stonesedge caused everything that I loved about this restaurant to disappear. My husband and I would dine at Stonesedge for all 4 meals when we visited Whistler for a weekend. Excessive? Absolutely!! but worth it because it was that delicious of a meal every time. But now it's been bought out by someone simply recreating every other restaurant pub menu in Whistler.
If you read most of the past reviews about the restaurant, you'd see people talk about the following dishes: breakfast:the farmers bowl, the hunters bowl, the potato pancakes; lunch: the duck mac n cheese, the smoked bison/venison poutine, the meadow burger, the smoked bison Montreal sandwich and I just can't get into dinner because my heart is breaking remembering all the great dishes they had. You would have read about the great smaller BC craft breweries they carry: Parallel 49, Hoyne, Broken Ladder, and creative cocktails that changed every season.
We came to Whistler with family visiting from the east coast and we were so excited to share Stonesedge with them and we were disappointed in the new menu and the execution of their new items.
We had the bison short rib which was one of the few items on the old menu but it lacked the flavor and creativity of the original Stonesedge short rib. However, the Ceasar Salad was nearly identical to the original and the new mushroom poutine was flavorful but over gravied, it was essentially a mushroom soup with fries and cheese curds floating in it.
Our family visiting had the ceasar salad as well and the beef and bacon cheese burger and they thought it was tasty but I tried it and it paled in comparison to the meadow burger. They ordered a side of soup with their burger, it was tomato basil but it tasted nothing like the original. In fact it was served cold and it was the first time I've ever sent food back in my life.
All in all, Stonesedge lost its creativity and its menu that lured its loyal customers back time and time again. Now you might as well just close your eyes and pick any place in Whistler to go for breakfast lunch or dinner because the menu is the same as all the others.
If anyone knows where the old owners and chef of Stonesedge have gone, please tell me so I can have my favorite Whistler restaurant back.
Thank you Gibbons for watering down the best restaurant there was in Whistler...Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Natalie C.Prospect Lefferts Gardens, Brooklyn, NY3314134Apr 2, 2016
Excellent restaurant! Glad to come back again even though we are staying on the Blackcomb side. Great service and food is sooo delicious with affordable price! It is not in the center of everything but it is a must try!

Came here on a Friday night quite early about 5pm and easily got a table for 6 people. We had truffle fries to start which were quite tasty. I opted for the veggie burger and greens salad which was surprisingly good. The burger was very saucy - hummus, mayo AND BBQ sauce. Many restaurants treat the veggie burger like a forgotten menu item so I appreciated they tried a little. Good selection of beers as well - I had a dark lager which the server let me try a bit before ordering which was nice. We had the lamington for dessert which was delicious ! (Although not a traditional lamington according to my half Aussie boyfriend). Others in my party tried the chicken and waffles and said it was quite dry and not as described by our server (Nashville hot chicken style) so this may be an item to skip. Otherwise our server was very nice and attentive. Be warned like many places at the resort, the menu is quite expensive.

Stopped in for breakfast. My eggs were hard as were my husband's (we both ordered medium). Sausage and bacon were good; potatoes were over cooked and deep fried instead of cooked on the stove top. Overall just marginal. We watched as a waitress wiped a table down, saw food left on the table and just moved it to the center of the table so she could put it under the menu. The seats were all covered in food as we sat down.

Bad service. We were sat right away at one of many open tables near the bar but then we sat there for 10 minutes without one person even asking us if we wanted a drink. We came to drink and eat because then menu looked good, but there did not seem to be anyone even working there aside from the host, who was nice, and the solo bartender who was innatenntive to say the least. We walked out after waiting for what seemed like forever considering we kept waving and looking at the two person staff for any kind of attention.

Food and service was decent , a bit pricey. However , staff did not wear mask during COVID . We noticed most of the restaurants surround this location did have mask

When in whistler and in doubt give this place a try and you'll thank yourself for making such a great choice!
The decor is very rustic, think swirling wooden stools meet chic west coast. We sat on the patio but the large leather couch in the back of the restaurant would be my cozy spot for the cold winter nights.
The patio is beautiful and the service was great. They have heat lamps and blankets for those cold mountain breezy nights.
I tried the Falafel, the duck and the Mojito Gelato which was offered as a 3 course menu and was out of this world. I can't believe that the Mojito flavour hasn't caught on.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Gracelle M.Vancouver, Canada65864Dec 21, 2015
A friend and I went here to eat lunch after a whole day of boarding and it definitely satisfied. If you're looking for a cozy, cabin-like atmosphere, you'll find yourself in the perfect place.
The food was so comforting too. I ordered the harvest bowl, a vegetarian dish with creamy mushrooms, tomatoes, squash and tofu. I'm usually not one to shy away from meat, but it was damn good. My friend ordered the bison poutine- not disappointing either. Everything on their menu sounded good, I'd probably drop by here again next time I'm up on the mountains to try more.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - danielle m.Seattle, WA4747Mar 2, 2016
Service and drinks were great. But, the food and seating experience were not.
We had a reservation and the place was half full, but we got seated at the back of the bar area next to the back door and froze every time anyone entered or exited.
We both ordered the steak. They came back and told us they only had one left it was only 7). I changed my order to the Duck & Lentil Casserole.
The steak was charred so badly it tasted terrible and ruined the sides (of which there was corn and potatoes, nothing green or otherwise healthily veggie). And I had to search for lentils in my duck casserole, despite being in the title of the dish. I had hoped it to be a hearty fun dish but it was just a bit of duck under a small bed of potatoes and a hint of the other veg listed as ingredients on the menu.
Overall not so great of a dinner, especially for the price.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
