I used to go to this location more often because it's right off the freeway (nice when I'm on my way home and want to get an afternoon/evening workout done) and I like the fact Emerald City Smoothie is built in the gym. It makes it way more convenient to grab a post workout smoothie if needed!
I do think this one tends to get pretty crowded, but you have to factor in the time you go. If you're coming in around the time everyone gets off work, well guess what, it'll probably be crowded ;) I've never really had any issues with this location either. Now that I've gone to others though, there are other ones I'd rather go to, but this one is still a decent one to go to for a quick workout in a pretty busy area.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Breanna A.Seattle, WA843Mar 28, 2014
The gym is usually really packed and sometimes you have to wait a little while to get the cardio machine of your choice, but the people are usually pretty conscioius about getting off the cardio machines if people are waiting and they've been on them for more than 30 min. Also, the people keep to themselves mostly which I like because I don't like to be bothered when I'm working out. The women's bathroom is disgusting, I usually try to avoid it and just come to the gym already in my work out clothes. The locker room isn't so bad though, but I've never really used it. As with any gym, there are usually more than a few cardio machines out of order, but the weight machines always seem to be working and open since there's so many.
I am really happy with the management. Recently, the manager at the landing location went out of his way to waive a fee for me and make it easier to continue going to LA Fitness even though I am moving and won't be going to the landing location as often. He easily could have just said "too bad" and ignored the issue, but he helped me out which I really appreciate. For that, I'd recommend this gym to my friends and to anyone in search of one.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dennis S.Seattle, WA949077Feb 21, 2011
The LA Fitness by the Landing in Renton is A-Otay. It's not spectacular or anything - I mean, it's not the Ballard LA Fitness ("Sport" facility with the all the bells and whistles). Ha.
Although I usually go to LA Fitness after work, I prefer to go on Sunday mornings when it's slower and I can have the basketball court to myself and shoot hoops to warm up before working out. The facility has enough equipment to accomodate the needs of most fitness fans. I'm usally able to access weights and cardio machines at the times that I go. Sometimes you come across fascinating personalities at this particular location, but I just keep my earphones on and stay "pho-cused" on my workout and tune out the distractions.
The location is ideal. The Landing has a wide array of stores and restaurants so you can go refuel with delicious food or do some shopping after your workout. Go get your fitness on! :)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Phillip G.Everett, WA72285Sep 2, 2012
Staff always greets you with a smile and will tolerate your presence once you're inside. There is enough equipment that I'm never waiting to get my workout in. Pool, hot tub, basketball and racquetball courts if you're interested. I stick to the free weights and machines mainly.
Convenient location for me otherwise I prefer the downtown Bellevue LA or the new one in Kelsey Park.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jennifer S.Victor, WA097Dec 20, 2019
Hot, muggy, smelly and dirty. Grossest women's locker room I've ever been in, equipment generally works but not the features on them and I would swear they turn the heater on inside when the outside temp hits 60F. I get it, it's a gym but it's not a sweat shop so stop with the stingy and keep the cool air flowing- or at least invest in industrial fans for circulation. The music screaming throughout the facility can be offense and is often so loud it's hard to hear your own music with earbuds/ headphones on. The racquetball courts haven't been maintained or cleaned in what seems and looks like years and the TVs have been on the same channels for months and months - hope you like sports and CNN . I've also never been to a gym where there are more people simply sitting on the equipment on their phones vs working out. The stretching mats upstairs behind the cardio equipment are basically nap mats- or place for friends to go, sit and talk or look at their phones. This facility offers "make them yourself" disinfecting wipe stations which are rarely used by patrons and I've not been able to easily locate medical emergency equipment (think AED, basic CPR instructions). I've heard many people comment that the facility was recently updated..... with what and when please. Been coming here for a yr only because it's closest to me, and haven't seen anything that would be considered "updating". Bottom line is this facility is poorly managed, the guest pass situation is abused but overlooked by management and it's really dirty but people keep showing up and quietly accepting it so it'll never change. Can't say you weren't warned!

Really expensive for what you get. Good luck getting them to honor their free 3 day pass when you're trying out the gym for the first time. They will try to pressure you into buying before you use it. If the manager isn't there, they'll tell you to leave. They are open until 11pm on weekdays (when I don't have as much time to visit the gym) and they are open until 8pm on weekends (when I have the time to visit). This is so backwards. The only reason this business exists is because seven out of ten people won't even use their membership but will keep paying.

This gym makes it virtually impossible for you to cancel your membership. You can't do it over the phone until a manager just happens to have a minute and your on line account requires you to print and mail in a form that won't make it there before your next billing, so you will have to pay another month even if you left the state! Come on. This is a terrible business practice.

Not the cleanest gym, actually quite dirty, but its closest to home.
This gym is my go to place. I go here on Mondays for bootcamp with Sean. He's a great instructor. Has humor, and makes the class fun. I also come here on Thursdays for cycling. However, James (Jim) who usually teaches the class, frequently has a sub for the thursday session. Its hard to want to keep going when there isnt a consistency relationship built with the instructor. Some subs work better than others, but some just arent my style in that class.
In addition, I come on Sat and Sun mornings, those are the perfect date and times to come. Its not very crowded at that time.
the gym gets three stars because this place can get overcrowded. the times between 5-8 its almost a mission to find machines sometimes. Towards the end of the week is the best time to go as people seem to dwiddle down. Overall still my home away from home. Plenty of parking. Plenty of opportunities for changes and working outHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sara J.Pleasant Hill, CA1122Feb 12, 2016

If you love craptacular (yes, craptacular) customer service, go ahead and go to this gym. The sales staff will do ANYTHING to get your business.
I joined LA after moving to Renton from out of state, and didn't know what I was getting into. I also hired a personal trainer to help me out. Worst idea ever. My trainer bails on me almost every week. The equipment in the club is always dirty and it is hard to even get a machine.
They have a great selection of group classes, but you have to get there AT LEAST a half an hour before you class time to even get in.
I tried to cancel my trainer due to the above issue, and they made me jump through hoops just to try and assign me another trainer. They refused to let me cancel unless I bought-out my contract. Lucky for me, it is over in June.
There are far superior gyms in Renton than LA Fitness. Go take your money there. Don't waste it here.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
