Sweet books. I never knew these stores existed. Go here first before buying online from places like BetterWorldBooks/ThriftBooks. Awesome place to browse and check out everything!

I love Half Price Books! I come by at least once a month when I get a chance for a new read. I love their deals that they display outside of their store. It's a loyalty thing when you can put your items outside your store and no one will just snatch and run. Prices will vary of course depending on demand. I enjoy the arts and crafts, cooking, and mystery section. I have sold text books, old DVDs and books there. The staff is really good about giving you a time quote when they'll be done evaluating your items. They will call your name when they are done so you can meet them back at the counter. I LOVE LOVE their sales that they occasionally have. I believe it's 10 or 20 percent off all items during certain times of the season or holidays. Sometimes I will call the store to see if they can look up a particular read or movie in stock. They will hold it for you for pick up. They also have a section for video games and board games as well, which is a plus. This store is not the largest store, but for the most part it has what you need.

A nice location for half price books. The people are super helpful and the bookshelves are packed so it is nice to browse through and take your time picking out an awesome book.

Hot shit. Plain and simple.
I love me some books and comics and going into this Half Price Books, hell ANY Half Price Books, and I am in heaven. Not only am I a complete and utter bookworm but I love getting my reading materials for cheap.
Great thing about Half Price Books are the genre selections. I've gotten adult sexuality books, feminists books, history books, art books, computer books, you name it and I've gotten it. Sections are clearly displayed making it very easy to find what you need.
The comic section at this particular location is rather small yet I always end up leaving with something.
The staff are phenomenal, very gregarious, and have a high regard for books such as I do.
Not really looking for just books? Well, you are in luck. Half Price Books carries DVD, cds, and records.
If they don't have the particular book you are searching for you can have the book sent to the location closest to you from another store. I remember utilizing that service in college.
If you are a book nerd, Half Price Books should become your best friend.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Kristy M.Seattle, WA12535Sep 16, 2016
Used to enjoy going there until one of the employees started making rude comments to me all because I didn't close the restroom door all the way as i was exiting . Don't know the guy's name but he's kinda tall and skinny with brown shoulder length hair (at least that's what it was when I last saw him). Their prices aren't that great to have to put up with that kind of attitude. Sad really because the rest of the staff was very nice. Won't set foot in there if I see that particular employee is there.

This Half Price Books location is okay. It's pretty cramped for the space - lots and lots of shelves of books. On the one hand, that is awesome because there are so many books, DVDs, CDs, etc to look at. On the other hand, it makes it hard to get around, especially on a busy Saturday like the last time I visited.
I have found a couple awesome gems here, but not too much else. I am hopeful though that I will find more on future visits.
Staff is super friendly and the lines go quickly here, even when it is busy. Parking can be tricky because the lot is a bit awkward, but it isn't too bad.
I know I will be back here!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Tony G.Seattle, WA36157634Feb 15, 2007First to Review
This place rocks hardcore! I can easily lose myself in here just browsing the books and imagining the joy of having the time to read them all. Hell, sometimes I buy books and put them on the shelf and plan on reading them later. They are really cheap so how can you not walk out with some books and wonder when you are going to read them? The political section is pretty awesome.
Not only do they have kick ass books, but DVDs as well. As a matter of fact, I bought Abs Tae Bo workout there for only $10 while it is $16 - $19 at the big stores. Who cares if it is used, it works and it kicked my ass this morning so its a great deal.
Rock!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jessica R.Boulder, CO10824032May 21, 2014
I love Half Price Books because I feel like it's a cross between a crazy, you never know what you're going to find used bookstore and an organized chain bookstore. I no longer live in Washington and we don't have HPB in my neck of the woods (come to LA!), but I frequent this location when I'm in Seattle visiting friends because I can make it on the way to or from the airport - which is good because I usually end up reading more than I predicted on the plane and then I'm out of reading material for my return trip.
I've gotten some really random, obscure stuff here as well as some bestsellers and I'm always excited that things are so cheap. Seriously, I have a Nook and I just can't even justifying buying e-books half the time because buying books here is so much cheaper. Plus, then I have the added benefit of looking totally smart because I have a respectable bookcase in my living room - books are the most functional of decor pieces, after all.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Kate S.Seattle, WA19673095Jan 24, 2011
$3 paperbacks,
You hear that? Three-dollars....
Used bookstores are my weakness, and I declare it a miracle that I did not walk out of this particular one with 30 books in tow. The store was neat, organized, and everyone working there was very friendly. Especially it being sort of late on a Sunday night.
The books are well organized. It is laid out and labeled pretty well to make it semi-obvious to find what you are looking for. If you couldn't find it the employees there are super helpful though.
There are clearance books selections --where Im pretty sure everything was $2 or less. They also have a small selection of video games, dvds, & music. Not a whole lot but plenty to go through, enough to make the boy happy!
Can't wait to go back and make my bookshelves overflow even more!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - René F.Renton, WA761161530Jul 4, 2010
I use to take my kids to the Redmond Store at least once every other month. All three of them became fond of the place and it was hard to get out of there for less than $100. I didn't get around to frequenting the Tukwila store until a couple of years ago. The kids are grown up now so getting us all together to go on a Saturday adventure happens less often. I've always thought of it as one of my smarter investments. The outcome was they all love to read.
My tastes are rather eclectic so sometimes I don't always find what I went there to look for, but who cares... It's like a treasure hunt. I love technology and spend a lot of time online in numerous social media and networking communities. At the risk of sounding old school however, there's nothing better on a rainy day in Seattle than to unplug and spend a few hours in a good bookshop. I can wander from section to section and back again. The art books will get me thinking about music, the music books about the CD's, then off to biography, cooking, software, poetry, and literature.
Some of the gems I have in my own personal library I found at the Tukwila store. The Caedmon Collection, a recording of Dylan Thomas reading his own works. Robert Craft's Current Convictions, written in 1977 reflects on music and his time with Igor Stravinsky. I love Frank McCourt and also found his brother Malachy's books, Danny Boy and A Monk Swimming. I discovered Bill Bryson here, I loved his "The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid", a delightful memoir of growing up in the 1950's, and Stephen King's, On Writing.
I rediscovered William Gibson. I read Neuromancer in the 80's but lost the book. I found it here and grabbed several of his later novels. One of my favorite recordings ever, Leonard Bernstein, The Final Concert, on Deutsche Grammophon. I especially love side A with LB conducting Benjamin Britten's, Four Sea Interludes. And, I Remember When Dad... by Louise Betts Egan, A wonderful small book of interviews of people all over the planet sharing memories of their Dad.
I could go on and on, but I'll finish by saying this is a very good store with a helpful staff. Yes it's a chain, yet it has its own personality and feels more like an independent. I have a theory that you can learn a lot about a community by the books you find at local shops like Half Priced Books. What you find varies from neighborhood to neighborhood. I'm delighted by what I find here.
If it's Saturday and it's raining, you just might find me here.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
