A cute hidden sushi bar in Richmond! Managed by an older Japanese couple, Sushi Hachi is amazing, featuring an array of fresh sashimi pieces. I really like their tuna selections. The service is quick and friendly, and you can tell they put a lot of attention into detail when they serve you and plate your food. I really like the quiet, intimate atmosphere. Remember to reserve your table early as they tend to fill up quick. They're also quite reasonably priced.

Food was wonderful but the service was spotty. Had to keep flagging down the server. If you're not in a rush, the food is worth it.

Hidden gem, you have to park in the back and walk to the front. I came by myself without a reservation and got lucky they weren't busy. There was a sign at the door that said they were fully booked so I almost walked away. But a lady opened the door and let me in. I got seated right away.
Inside is simple, they only have a few tables. I'd recommend calling ahead.
I only had time to get the chef's nigiri selection. Food came was and it was amazing. I love it when the nigiri is perfectly seasoned and doesn't need extra soy sauce or wasabi. The nori on the chopped scallop gunkan was crunchy. The amaebi was perfectly sweet, bouny and salty. Each piece was melt in your mouth tender. I would had ordered more but had to run out.
5/5 for food, location isn't great.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nicole M.Richmond, BC253916Jan 18, 2023
Oh my! One of the loveliest mom and pop restaurants I've been to! Their fish was SO FRESHH, so perfectly cut, I'm still thinking about it. We ordered takowasa, tried a whole bunch of nigiris and finished it off with oden.
The lady owner greeted us very quickly after sitting down and was super friendly and sweet throughout our meal. She helped us figure out if it would be too much food for two people and described the dishes when asked.
Their chopped scallop nigiri was BOMB!! Had to order it again cause wow. Their uni, blue fin, hamachi and toro nigiri was also delectable.
Overall I was a happy girl with a very full belly after :) would def be coming backHelpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - 29594457Oct 4, 2021
I've been wanting to come here for years! But because of the short hours of opening I never had the chance until now, and I have to say I finally understand the hype. Sushi Hatchi is a mom and pop restaurant operated by what looks like a Japanese couple. There are only a handful of seats available but food gets serve pretty soon after you order.
The omakase comes with 10 pieces and a roll. It was super fresh and had a very reasonable price tag.
Overall we were very happy with both the food and the service.
If you plan on coming here please remember to make a reservation a few days beforehand. We were lucky to get seats because I called right at opening, but even so that was their only available slot of the day.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sally H.Vancouver, BC27148430Feb 15, 2022
Sushi Hachi is an amazing hidden gem It's mom and pop-owned seafood restaurant with amazing tasting and high-quality sushi. They're a smaller but well-known spot for the freshest and greatest quality ingredients for sushi. If you haven't been here yet I suggest you check this place out now!
They only have about 4-5 tables inside and they are only open a few days during the week for only a few hours during the evening. They get EXTREMELY busy and are usually all booked up months in advanced so if you want to check it out I suggest calling to book in advanced
They are only a team of two so they operate at a slower pace. The vibe is intimate, quiet but lovely. We thoroughly enjoyed everything that we ordered here. Most of all we enjoyed the quality of all the seafood. It's incredibly fresh, delicious and high-quality. I definitely recommend this place if you want great tasting seafood and wouldn't mind paying higher. It's definitely pricier but I do say that it's worth it for the quality.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Wilson Y.South Cambie, Vancouver, BC04Sep 30, 2023
Amazing sushi and super fresh fish never disappointed. For the price and service it competes with the higher end sushi restaurants like masayoshi. Ambiance is average more on the quite side of things.

Tiny restaurant . Horrible service. Girl serving said" order now! We are going to be busy soon , oh no you can't order that. No time to cook that " ( there was a table empty, the sushi counter was totally vacant) no line outside either . Do not know where they come off like they are serving Michelin food, more like a fast food joint. Nothing to write about for taste either. Worst service and common sushi. Woman acted Like a sushi nazi. Do not recommend. Worst restaurant experience for Richmond ! Didn't even get a refill for tea. Rude rude rude server

I always drive by this place and have been wanting to check them out for awhile so I finally got us a table for my father's birthday as he's very picky with his Japanese food. It's a very small, husband and wife run restaurant so seats are limited and they are only open from 5-9 (Wed to Sat) so reservations are highly encouraged.
The quality to price ratio is incredible. I got the chef's choice sushi combo for $30 which was amazing. Their nigiris are also very fresh and good quality cuts. This place is great to enjoy a nice authentic Japanese dinner but don't expect to get in and out right away if you are in a rush as it's just the 2 of them so relax and enjoy your food and company.
Parking is inside Pacific Plaza and they close the gates beside Sushi Hachi by 7pm so you would need to walk around the main entrance.
I love supporting small businesses when I can and being walking distance from my place, I would definitely come back again. My only regret was not coming here sooner!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
