Abstract
The larval morphology and karyotype of Chironomus tschubarevae sp. n. are described. The larvae belong to the salinarius type, have a dark head capsule, a gular spot with blurry borders, colored frontal sclerites and genae, a mentum with the first lateral teeth above the middle tooth, and the second lateral teeth in the form of ledges. According to the combination of chromosomal arms (AB, CD, EF, G), the species belongs to the thummi cytological complex and has 0.18 heterozygous inversions per individual.
