Radium Hot Springs

Escape the crowds on the warm side of the Rockies – a short, scenic 1.5-hour drive from Banff and Lake Louise through Kootenay National Park. Relax in odourless natural hot springs beneath the vibrant rock cliffs of Sinclair Canyon. This family-friendly facility offers plenty of space to relax and soak in the expansive hot pool or cool off with the kids in the swimming pool (currently under construction)

Admission can only be purchased in person at reception. Advance and online tickets are not available.

Radium Hot Springs is a federal heritage building, constructed between 1949 and 1951.

Look up at the walls of Sinclair Canyon as you soak in Radium Hot Springs hot pool.

Need to cool off? Radium Hot Springs has a 25-meter cool pool that features a diving board and two slides. The smaller shallow-end slide is appropriate for young children. The larger slide is appropriate for individuals comfortable swimming in deep water. Men’s, women’s, and gender-neutral accessible change rooms are located on the pool level of the facility.

Gendered change rooms offer washrooms, showers, private change stalls, and one-time-use lockers. Accessible change rooms offer showers and one-time-use lockers. A separate accessible washroom is available just off the wet hall.

Water temperature

The hot pool water temperature is between 37 and 40 degrees Celsius or 98 and 104 Fahrenheit.

The cool pool is between 27 and 29 degrees Celsius or 80 and 84 degrees Fahrenheit.

Directions

Radium Hot Springs is located 1.8km east of the Village of Radium Hot Springs. Radium Hot Springs is located in Kootenay National Park. A national park pass (day pass or a Parks Canada Discovery Pass) is required to visit the Hot Springs facilities, and anytime visitors stop to use amenities and services within a national park.

Driving

Accessible parking and ramp access to the Aquacourt are available via the small parking lot on the northbound side of Hwy 93 South.

On-site parking for cars, RVs and motor coaches is available in the main parking lot on the southbound side of Hwy 93 South. From this parking lot, Radium Hot Springs can be safely accessed via the pedestrian underpass.

Walking

Some visitors choose to walk to Radium Hot Springs using either the sidewalk along Highway 93 or the 3.3 km Juniper/Sinclair trail from the Kootenay National Park boundary to the Radium Hot Springs parking lot. The trail is not recommended for winter travel and sidewalk conditions may vary throughout the winter.

Public transit

 There is no public transit to Radium Hot Springs.
