MILLAA MILLAA, Tropical North Queensland

Winter in TNQ at Millaa Millaa Falls.

Well here we are in Millaa Millaa, a very small town of about 600 people. It is still in the Atherton Tablelands and is a pretty little place amidst stunning scenery. We moved from Herberton because of the lack of phone cover and I can’t live without the phone and internet as my friends will know.  We are at the Tourist Park, which is very well set out in lovely rainforest gardens. The facilities are great and they have a book exchange! Also a Telstra tower just across the road, so hallelujah full cover! They also give a special price if you stay for a week.

I can’t get over how beautiful the countryside is here on the Tablelands. Very green and lush and hilly, with mountains in the distance and large patches of rainforest.  The cleared areas are mostly given over to cattle and they look so good against the lush green of the paddocks. I could easily live here (haha) too late!

We took a drive this morning to Yungaburra (just 40ks up the road) to their monthly market. It is so big I got quite exhausted wondering around on my sore toes. Well I wasn’t exactly walking on my toes but they hurt a bit when I walk because I fell off the bed the other day and slammed my toes into the wall (it’s a small bedroom in the RV) and I think the dog pushed me off the bed! Well now two of my toes are a bright purple and quite sore. Anyhow the market was very impressive but I resisted the urge to buy things except $5 worth of fruit.

We did the three waterfalls here the other day in a 15K loop. Well worth the look and there is still another half dozen to go and look at. We have two weeks here so we’ll get around them all before we leave. It’s a great place to come and stay for the winter. As you can see by the photo it’s warm enough to swim here in the middle of winter. Mind you I certainly wouldn’t!

We visited Lake Eacham today, very lovely, surrounded by rainforest and lovely clean, clear water and a few mad people swimming!

Until next post

Ciao

Retired from paid work and travelling around the countryside with my gorgeous doggy and husband. (haha) We head north in the winter (where it is warmer than our home town) and we head south in the summer where it is cooler than in our home town.
