High Key / Low Key Photography – Hans Voorberg
With tons of practical advice and a great sense of humour, Hans’s presentation was both entertaining and inspiring!
Some takeaways:
- You can set up with tools that are simple and inexpensive
- Household items (i.e. fruits and vegetables) and flowers make wonderful still life subjects to practice with
- Manipulating light source(s) produces stunning results
- Use patience and perseverance

January project of the month – Winter Wonderland
We had a total of 53 great photos submitted by 28 participants. Even with the “winter weather” against us, we did rise up to the occasion!
Those who submitted a photo for the Photo Project of the Month qualified for a draw. The prize was a $20.00 gift card from Monks Chocolates, in Grimsby. The lucky winner was John Kimberley. Congratulations, John!

February Project of the Month – Chocolate & other delectable treats
The theme of our next Photo Project of the Month is “Chocolate & other delectable treats”, with a submission deadline of Sunday, March 8, 2019.
We look forward to seeing everybody’s “sweet spot”!

Monthly Photo Labs
With free space provided by both the Grimsby Public Library and the Grimsby Public Art Gallery, we will be hosting two (2) Photo labs in February:
Wednesday, February 19 — 6:30-8:30 pm
Friday, February 28 — 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Photo Labs are intended to provide a space for photographers to focus their attention on photo projects, away from all the distractions of everyday life.
Photo lab location: Grimsby Public Art Gallery Studio

Photographers have the opportunity to submit their photographs to be auctioned!
Event date: March 28, 2020 — 7:00 pm
Event Theme: All you need is love (Beatles)
Cost: $35.00/pp
One (1) ticket will be raffled during our March meeting
Grimsby Public Art Gallery Exhibition
Photographers from the GPG will be exhibiting their work at the Grimsby Public Art Gallery!
Time frame: A 2-month period has been reserved for our group, from December 1, 2020 to January 31, 2021.
