Suggestions for the list of OPML-compatible tools #4
Comments
Tinderbox is a note-taking tool that imports OPML and exports OPML (when used with the built-in export templates): http://www.eastgate.com/Tinderbox/ |
@owrede -- what platforms? (I guessed it was Mac.) |
Hi all, |
@SheetPlanner -- the URL? |
Hi Dave,
Sorry, I should have included more details.
URL is www.sheetplanner.com <http://www.sheetplanner.com/>
Twitter is @SheetPlanner
If your not already familiar with SheetPlanner and want to play around with it, download it from the Mac App Store, start the 21 day trial and I will give you a license so you doming have to purchase it.
Would love to know what you think….
We are continuing to work on the Mac app and releasing for iOS and iPadOS later this year….
Regards,
Peter

What's best for a link is if you have docs about how to get stuff in and out via OPML. In this context that's what people will care about. |
Dave,
We dont cover import and export in our help files or help videos. I guess we need to add them.
That said, its very straightforward.
There are options in the File menu for Import and Export.
Selecting Import will automatically recognize and import an OPML file.
Selecting Export provides the option to export as CSV or OPML.
Thats about it.

Vienna, an RSS reader for MacOS also supports OPML |
@ruurd -- I'm not doing this for RSS readers yet, because there are so many of them and basically they all read and write OPML. But I want to try something interesting out there too. 😄 |
@SheetPlanner -- I added your product to the list. |
Thanks Dave.

Yes. Tinderbox is a Mac-ony tool. |
Hi Dave: Opal exports to and opens OPML files. https://a-sharp.com/opal/ |
One observation, There seems to be a significant lack of Linux apps on that list, which is a shame. Also, a suggestion, would it be possible to add the licence type to the list, i.e. whether an app is proprietary or foss etc. then it might be easier to know which to investigate further with a view to forking and porting. |

Enjoy! |
Just wanted to quickly note that OmniOutliner can also edit OPML natively, it’s not just an import/export format. |
@FrasSmith -- I don't think at this point any of the products have an open source license. Also there will be a Linux version of Electric Drummer hopefully soon, I just have to get around to testing it. :-) |
Ultra Recall supports import and export of OPML. Platform: Windows Product page: OPML support: https://kinook.com/UltraRecall/Manual/index.htm?xmlexport.htm |
Mellel (www.mellel.com) supports import and export to OPML. Mac platform. |
Hi Dave, I currently use Cloud Outliner which can import and export OPML: https://xwavesoft.com/cloud-outliner-for-iphone-ipad-mac-os-x.html It is iOS and Mac. |
@apphorder -- http://opml.org/compatibleApps.opml#1654792718000 thanks for the link. ;-) |
FreshRSS is an open-source, self-hostable news aggregator (RSS / Atom / XPath), supporting OPML import/export, and also supporting publishing/subscribing to dynamic OPML (reading lists). It has an OPML XML namespace with a few additional properties. |
@Alkarex -- we're only covering outliner editing software at this time. The list of feed products that support OPML would be much larger, given that it's a basic requirement in that category. |
Infoqube (Windows) - imports and exports OPML. |
Definitely Android Outliner by Alfred Fritz: https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=Alfred+Fritz&hl=en_US&gl=US Outliner will sync with OPML several other systems. I don't know if Natara Bonsai used OPML at its core but I seem to recall it was very OPML friendly. It is still with Android Outliner. |
FeedCurator (GitHub), Mac App Store) allows creating and editing OPML feed files. It seems specifically geared toward working with listings of blog/podcast feeds. Additionally, iThoughts and Little Outliner appear to no longer be available and could likely be removed from the list. |
With the help of Jesse Grosjean of Hog Bay Software, we have started a list of apps that support OPML.
