Kaizoku Lyrics

I want to break your soul in two
I want to do the worst things possible to you
Your beauty makes my heart beat fast with lust
Coursing its black blood, laced with hatred and crust

I can't explain what's happened to me, my love
This sickness gestated so deep within these bones
It's laid but dormant, waiting for you, my foe
Now that I've found you, I must have you for my own

I want you at your best, to see me at my worst
Lure you into the place where I have rehearsed
The many things I have to do to you
To free myself from this curse that keeps me in my tomb

As I pull you apart
Refuse your soul to depart
As I pull you apart
Refuse your soul to depart

Somewhere between my love and hate
Resides a place where hope forsakes
Somewhere between my love and hate
No gods allow this journey I must take

What did Ibaraki say about "Kaizoku"?
Genius Answer

Matt Heafy:

Kaizoku is the Japanese term for ‘Viking,’ which is a word I’d never seen before. I’ve described the outro as having an almost Nightmare Before Christmas vibe, if it had happened in Eastern Europe—or a kind of spaghetti western gypsy sound. I mentioned this to a friend of mine who’s a journalist in Prague, and she said it actually makes sense because spaghetti westerns were inspired by Akira Kurosawa’s films. So, the whole thing came around.
