So UGLY in fact, I felt it warranted it's own thread.I've only seen them a couple of times, but every time I see one I have to fight the gag reflex. I just got back from dropping my driver's license renewal application at the post office, and on the drive back I got stuck behind one of these ugly beasts. I sincerely can not fathom how anyone could think it is anything but horrendously ugly. Why on earth would someone design a truck like that? Why on earth would someone produce a truck like that? Why on earth would someone BUY a truck like that?!

The tailgate actually bulges out on the top, the tail lights sweep forward "artfully", the fender bulges, and the step is STILL just a hole in the fender with a rubber pad on the bottom. It's horrible. It looks like someone left the clay concept model in the sun too long and went ahead with the results anyhow.

Unfortunately, I can't find any decent-size photos of the monstrosity. The ones I CAN find are dark and hide the horrible ugly tailgate and the nasty Pontiac style bulging.

Image

And the bulging ugliness is accentuated when viewed from directly behind.

Tell me...why not just cut a hole in the side of the regular cab and stick a step-pad in the bottom of it?

So they took the crappiest "full size truck" ever concieved and made it even uglier than it was to begin with? Wow.

Only Toyota...

Ugly, yes -- but it can't touch the Ridgeline.

it is extremely ugly. always hated the design, rather have a t100 myself. sat next to one that was apparently supercharged in traffic last night. it was pretty sweet.

^^ the ridgeline isnt a truck, I thought everyone knew that by now?

The ridgeline isn't a real truck, so it's out of the running for this award.

Ha, yes I know it's not a "real" truck. It's still marketed and used as a truck, has a bed and more ground clearance than a car. Its hideousness trumps semantic insults.

Uh...it hauls and carries more than trucks in it's class because there AREN'T any trucks in it's class. It's a damn ACCORD with a bed. The El Camino could make the same claims the Ridgeline does (even moreso! since it was body-on-frame and had a big V8 option!), but wasn't lame enough to try. If there's no boxed frame, no body-on-frame construction, and the bed is attached to the cab, it's not a truck. It also only offers a 3.5 liter V6. Even the crap Tundra offers at least a 4.7 liter V8. Honda calls it a HALF TON pickup. That means they're saying it's competition--not for the Tacoma, Frontier, Colorado, and Ranger but for the Silverado, F-150, and Titan! And it's got a TRANSVERSE MOUNTED V6 as it's biggest engine option!! There's no dual-speed transfer-case. No locking diffs. No real 4WD. NOTHING about it makes it a real truck.

It DOES NOT out-haul or out-payload the Titan, F-150, or Silverado. Anyone who says otherwise was paid to.

our opinions arent the issue. a pickup by definition is a separate bed/cab on frame design, the ridgeline is of unitary construction and qualifies as something more akin to the explorer sporttrac or subaru baja.

Even the Sport Trac has a seperate bed, though.

And I want a No Fear Edition Titan. Some magazine put one up against an Xterra, FJ Cruiser, and Hummer H1 Alpha in an offroading competition, and awarded the NF Edition Titan first place.

Perhaps they're utilizing both the engineering team AND customer base from the Aztek?:

Haha, it's a grounded Jumbo Jet!

Anyway, are there actually any trucks and SUV's that look good?

People get so buthurt about the ridgeline when it fill such a perfect nitch. We all know 85% of truck owns might as well be in a car and now they are....It give people who just want a truck for no practical reason more practicality. It can still do some toing, and carry good amount of cargo in the bed, yet you still get a locking trunk, a car like experiance, better milage ect....

If we were having a conversation about rock crawler platforms, or what truck to bring to the tractor pull, what to buy as a work horse for your ranch...ect ok but we are not! Ridgeline fits the needs of your average truck buyer perfectly offering cargo space, and light towing compacity in a more car like package to people who dont need a truck but insist on buying one anyways.

No one ever really trumped this thing as the next burly offroader, then your complaints would be justified.

That Tundra is disgusting. Theres more taillight visible from the side than the rear. Its a truck for girlie men.

BTW, the Ridgeline sucks balls too...

Avalanche....you're talking about the FULL SIZE Aztek right? Yeah the Toyota is way ugly. I'd love to have a full size Titan or Ram 2500 Dully.

i own an s10my next truck will either by tundra or ridgeline

i was looking at picking up a bigger truck sooner, but i decided not to.

when i was looking at bigger trucks i looked at the titan.

i didn't like the plastic interior. felt like the dash was made from the same stuff my portable cooler is. i didn't like it at all. it is huge though.

ridgeline is heavy enough and has enough power to tow a flat bed with a car on it. driving one you can tell it needs more balls. i've heard honda has already planned on putting in a big v8.

to be honest, i use the truck bed often to carry long ladders from work to home and throwing out junk at the junk yard. i don't move barns on the weekend so buying a huge pickup truck makes no sense for me. owning a pickup truck i know i will always have a pickup in the family, they are too useful.

i want a pickup truck heavy enough and powerful enough to tow a full trailer with my project car on the back, and goodies in the truck bed.

ridgeline fits the bill. i like the good gas mileage, and the built in trunk for security.

ridgeline is a great truck in my book, plus i like how honda didn't follow the crowd and built a truck just like the others on the market already.

It'd still take it over a F-150 or a Ram, although the Titan and the Silverado are tops for me.

But I love the good old Nissan XE. A kid at my school has one...it's bada$$...I love his exhaust...nice deep rumble...and he's got a lift kit on it...but it's just right...not the gay monster truck lifts that people don't even use to go offroading on (well at least around here)

My dad plans on getting a truck...he wants a Ford but I beg to differ.

Nissan XE FTW

Just FYI, dual wheels were/are an option only on 3500 series trucks...

+1 for the tundra being one of the gheyest designs ever, esp the stepside.

If you really want a good looking truck, you have to go back a few years...

I also like the Toyota Tacomas from the 90's...besides the Nissan XE, that would be a truck i'd want. Didn't Marty McFly have a black one in BTTF3?
