This could be another disease they add... it has a % chance to infect critters, and maybe even dupes, turning them into feral creatures that attack, or even eat, other critters/dupes.

Adding new medicine to the apothecary you have to administer (for a chance) to cure them.

Sounds like rabies. Infected creatures becomes mad and tries to bite everybody around them. Each create bitten then turn into a biting creature to spread the disease.

Speaking of eating critters, we need some lizard like critter, which drops the tail when spooked. The implementation of this is a ranching "spook" station. The game mechanics are there. It's the same as getting stuff from dreckos, except this one drops meat. That would allow a source of meat without actually killing your critters.

Maybe in true space theme, the dropped parts shouldn't be a tail, but rather have a hedgehog like critter with tentacles and the dupes can then eat dropped tentacles.
