Still trying to replicate all my paints from past editions, will update as I can. I include my gamertag and my club sgc_ (SprayGun Collective) in lowercase in my descriptions to aid in finding these designs.
8 Ball - evolved over the years from Magic 8 Ball to Manic R8 Ball. Had to offset the fender stripes because of some glitch in the side mappings:
Pencil - Came up with this in MCLA because of the faceted appearance of the Impala’s flanks. I based this one off of that design, but took advantage of the tintable metal materials for the green sections, making reversed out lettering for “DIXON” “HB” and the 2 bubble (“Ticonderoga” is just printed, I don’t have insane amounts of free time). Just did some research, and there are some inaccuracies to my design, which I will correct if nobody has bothered to grab this design yet (nobody had, so, corrected - left the last pic to show changes; just because):
Jug - I may still make a B-36 Peacemaker, but this P-47 Thunderbolt (nicknamed The Jug) had such a cool paintjob that it took priority. If you’ve painted the F100 you likely have an idea what I went through:
Hellcat - this was gonna be a Corsair (F4U) but seeing as how Chrysler has come out with a Hellcat (F6) model of the Challenger, I just folded a bunch of visual cues from both planes; even I’m thinking it’s a bit much:
Generic Hot Rod - I had always wanted to do this with a Dart, blue stripe generic packaging from the 80s (Repo Man); plus Chrysler products nickname of “Brand X”:
The ingredients took a surprisingly long time…
Mustang GT-R 69 - another theme I never seem to tire of is this 2004 race car concept; I’ve tried it on every Mustang in all the Forzas, but it looks surprisingly good on the 1969 fastback:
There are no nitro fueled funny cars in FH2, (I know, right?) so from the original Carmageddon here’s Vlad’s Annihilator when he was in high school:
The star was there for alignment purposes when copying graphics from one side to the other, but it looked right and I left it in. A flamed Camaro and a nickname bragging about your prowess with the ladies is very high school to my jaded eye.
Bf 109 Messerschmitt - not really, this is an amalgam of Luftwaffe paint schemes, most of which are fictional:
Mitsubishi Zero - (U.S. designation) Mitsubishi A6M Navy Type 0 Carrier Fighter; again, only very loosely based on the original:
In FH1 you could paint the spoiler as shown below, but they “fixed” this =
F-86 Sabre - The North American F-86 was introduced the same year as the Mercury, 1949. Didn’t include any words or girls as it’s pretty crowded as is:
Can I say again how much I wish we could remove that chrome spear? I hate that chrome spear. Grr. Hate.
Merciless Cullwing - driven by Wanda Lust in Carmageddon, I’ve actually toned the blood spatter down quite a bit from previous Forza liveries:
The plate is a pun on “mea culpa” (my fault, or my bad in Latin - “I am culpable, I am the culprit”). I don’t actually know how to Latin.
P51 Two Timer - refers to Carroll Shelby’s name being comprised of what are generally, but not always, girls names:
Black Jack - another design from my Forza past. I used to put tiny words for the colors (blood, ivory, opium - reflecting the darker side of the British Empire, not pretentious at all) throughout the design, but not on this one:
Ed 101’s car from the original Carmageddon, with an extra O added into the name:
One of the many many earlier designs from FM3 or 4 or both:
Art Morrison’s '60 Vette from GT5 and GT6:
ChromeGod - an official add-on car I made for the original Carmageddon, updated design:
Warbird - a P-40 Warhawk inspired '67 427 Vette subtitled “Big Block Buster” a punmandu combining “Big Block” (427 engine is a Chevy big block) and “Block Buster” (WW2 term referring to 4000lb - 12000lb bombs so called because they could level an entire city block):
Kalifornia Flew Bug - a livery for Stig’s Volkswerker in Carmageddon 1 made back in the 90s. The punny name is all that really distinguishes this:
That 70s BMW - I was 10 when this car came out, and still recall what custom paint of the time looked like, adapted to the BMW colors:
Previous photos showed some small problem areas in the livery, which have been addressed in this updated version.
P51 - “Coyote Ugly” after the 5.0 Coyote engine in the Mustang GT; awkward photo that shows most of the design:
A more complimentary shot:
Time to address my apparent Mad Max syndrome: I am taken with the idea of hot rod police from the first movie, that said, it’s more because it was the first decal I finished in the game (MFP badge) that I stuck it on everything. Stick the badge onna black car - instant Special Interceptor.
MFP08 - what if Mad Max was set in the 50s? OR the Fallout Road Warrior - this is Roop and Charlie’s 08 Pursuit, not Max’s 508 Interceptor:
Wanted to do a black & white traditional version; decided to keep it a MFP car:
My lazy Focus Interceptor:
Mad Cash, or Mad Mel. What would Max drive if he were as rich as Mel is now? Mostly I was shocked (and delighted) at the wild aero add-ons for the Bentley after I won it on a wheel spin:
First car in the game, so of course:
Dodge MFP Interceptor - I bought this thinking that it had the police push bars as in FH1, but no such luck. This is my favorite “original” design using the MFP template. I had to offset the badge on the hood because of some weird glitch down the center of the hood (with no other optional hoods) so I’m just saying that it is to indicate which side the driver is sitting to helicopters, because, Australia:
Not real proud of my first design in the game that I whipped up based on an old MC:LA paint for the same car (in that game there were aero kits that almost made this look good), but it is the second most popular sigh:
The original:
The ability to color different parts of the interior and every wheel having 3 different material zones, and being able to resize and paint stock wheels just like any aftermarket wheel, plus subtractive vinyls - MC:LA offered a lot the Forza has never had; but with front & back offering only 22 layers and top & sides at 64 layers each (low resolution, at that) it had plenty of shortcomings…
