EXPERIENCE PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND

Surrounded by Anne

If you’re anything like Anne, you’re probably very curious. And if you’re curious about Anne, you’ve come to the right place.

Three sides of Fairways Cottages is surrounded by the author’s, LM Montgomery Cavendish Home and National Historic Site. Across the road is the Haunted Woods Trail entrance to the National Park, Anne of Green Gables House, Museum and spectacular walking trails. Much of these beautiful areas are protected and are presented as in the 1908 setting of Anne of Green Gables, the novel. If your interest is in our rich Acadian, Celtic or Native Island cultural experiences, Cavendish Beach Prince Edward Island is located in the island’s centre so you are minutes from these areas. We will provide you links and directions to enrich your P.E.I. cultural experiences.

40 kilometers of beaches

Most who think of Prince Edward Island have as top of mind, our beaches.

Finding the right words to describe our beaches is a difficult task. They are so varied and breathtaking. The entire Cavendish Beach Resort destination & north shore area borders the entrance into the National Park white sand dune beach system. There are over 40 kilometers of beaches to explore in this area. One of our favourite pastimes is to take the wooded boardwalk from the entrance to Fairways which then takes you directly to the Cavendish Dune Land Trail.

We then sit and watch the sunset or walk along the warm waters edge to take in the late evening warm sun. We encourage our guests to take a short drive to our south shore and discover the red soil beaches.

Island playground

Prince Edward Island may be just the place to fulfill your childhood dreams.

Sandy beaches, warm ocean water, lively fun parks and an overall casual atmosphere make up your Island playground. Within just a couple of minutes from Fairways Cottages are more than twenty family attractions and of course our greatest playground – Cavendish Beach. Whether a child or a child at heart, these family attractions offer just the right magical mix of nostalgia and fun, with an ease of access and minimum hassle.

An Island family vacation is designed to be as wholesome and uncomplicated as an ice-cream cone on a summer afternoon.

Sights and Sounds

Whether the Festival of Small Halls, the Cavendish Beach Country Music Festival, the Indian River Classical Music Festival, the Charlottetown Festival or one of the many weekly ceilidhs offered, PEI is alive with all the music genres to suit your individual needs.

It is in the spring, things really start to heat up on the Island; the Ceilidh at the Irish Hall begins in May, and the College of Piping in Summerside hosts the annual Highland Gathering. Then, it is pretty well non-stop party time until October.

Lots to take home

Our local artisans will offer you viewing of their creations in the works, some will even arrange a hands-on opportunity for you to create your own or simply browse their stores.

Prince Edward Island has all of the big brand retail clothing stores, but what the Island has that most larger destinations don’t have is an abundance of retail Arts & Crafts venues that had the artisans inspired by our rich culture, Island colours and scenic vistas.  The following is a link to assist when planning your vacation itinerary to include visits with our local artisans.

Land and Sea

Hit the trails for cycling or hiking, kayak the coastline, deep sea fish in one of twelve charters located five-minutes away, seal watch, or simply seashell hunt on your stroll along the beaches.

There are eight hiking and cycling trails in the Cavendish Beach Resort destination. Some of these are paved, some are gravel and some are developed without natural and beautiful red clay.

Located a short 2-minute walk form Fairways Cottages is our local bike rental company, so if you forgot your bike, not to worry we have just what you need to explore the trails.
