Survivor alum Parvati Shallow reveals relationship with comedian Mae Martin: ‘We’re here. We’re queer'

“Some people come into your life at the perfect and most unexpected time."

Parvati Shallow is ending the year on a personal high note.

In a social media post shared this weekend, the Survivor: Micronesia winner came out as queer and confirmed her relationship with comedian and Taskmaster contestant Mae Martin.

"We're here. We're queer. Happy new year," Shallow wrote on Instagram, sharing a cute photo booth strip of the happy couple.

Martin — who is nonbinary and uses they/them pronouns — reposted the photo with a teary-eyed and heart emoji before sharing a sweet post of their own to Instagram stories. The short clip shows the couple riding a beachside Ferris wheel, where Shallow winks at the camera.

Shallow, 41, previously alluded to the relationship in a November Instagram post that included photos of her daughter and Martin, along with other friends and family.

“Some people come into your life at the perfect and most unexpected time,” she wrote. “They see you, they love you right where you are, they make you laugh so hard you cry. They celebrate your wins and lift you up. They do art projects with your kids and play hide and seek after dinner. When you’re sequestered in an airport hotel alone on your birthday, they throw a big surprise party for you when you’re home. They remind you that even when it’s hard, life can be a really beautiful journey.”

Shallow was previously married to fellow Survivor contestant John Fincher, with whom she shares a daughter. The couple, who began dating in 2014, divorced after four years of marriage in August 2021, citing "irreconcilable differences." She also obtained a temporary domestic violence restraining order against him.

The reality star is set to make her TV return with the upcoming second season of The Traitors on Jan. 12. Shallow first appeared on Survivor: Cook Islands, before going on to win Survivor: Micronesia — Fans vs. Favorites in 2008. She later placed second in 2010's Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains and also competed in Survivor: Winners at War in 2020. Meanwhile, Martin recently starred in the 15th season of Taskmaster and is also the creator, writer, and star of the British comedy Feel Good, which features Charlotte Ritchie and Lisa Kudrow.

Elsewhere in the Survivor-verse, another franchise alum ended the year with a big personal announcement. Former winner Erika Casupanan shared a throwback video via Instagram Reels revealing that 2023 was the year that she “realized I’m a lesbian.” She joked in the caption, “I was wearing rainbow socks what did I expect?”
