Elisha Cuthbert joins gay-themed pilot -- but what about '24'?

Elisha Cuthbert — last seen in the critically-acclaimed but so-so rated comedy Happy Endings — will try her luck in an NBC sitcom pilot that’s from Ellen DeGeneres.

She’ll pay a lesbian named Lizzy in One Big Happy, a New Normal-like sitcom from Warner Bros. TV. Here’s the official logline: “Platonic friends since childhood, a lesbian (Cuthbert) and her straight male best friend (Luke, played by Nick Zano) have been living together and have been trying to have a baby via artificial insemination for some time now. They finally get pregnant — just as Luke meets and impulsively marries the love of his life.”

The script is from Liz Feldman.

It’s unclear whether Cuthbert’s commitment to NBC will affect her ability to reprise her role as Kim Bauer in Fox’s remake of 24. Then again, it doesn’t sound like there were any big plans to incorporate Jack Bauer’s (often exasperating) daughter: one insider tells EW that while it’s possible for any member of the old guard to guest star in the new iteration, there’s no movement — at least for the first few episodes — to incorporate Kim.
