Tim Legler

Former NBA player Tim Legler joined ESPN in 2000 as a studio analyst for ESPNEWS, and his role with the network has grown each year.  For the 2004-05 season, he added NBA Shootaround, the pre-game show prior to ESPN’s Friday night doubleheader, to his assignments.  He also appeared regularly as an analyst of ESPN2’s NBA Coast to Coast and NBA Fastbreak .  He also serves as a game analyst for select telecasts on ESPN and ESPN Radio broadcasts.

The sharp-shooting guard rose from the ranks of the CBA to NBA after leaving La Salle University in 1988.  He played for five NBA teams – the Phoenix Suns, Utah Jazz, Golden State Warriors, Dallas Mavericks and Washington Wizards.

In his first season with the Washington Wizards, Legler burst into the national spotlight at the 1996 NBA All-Star Weekend when he won the three-point shooting contest.  The players he defeated included Dennis Scott, Steve Kerr, and Glen Rice.  Legler went on to lead the NBA in three-point shooting with a percentage of .522 that season, falling just shy of the all-time single-season record of .524.

Legler received an MBA degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 2002.
