Is about

Date:

A teaching method that involves teacher lecture, class room discussion, group interaction, using examples and non-examples to help students fully
understand the concepts being taugh.

Theory
The theory of this model is that students learn
from not only the teacher, but through group
work, class discussion, examples, and non
examples. The theory of this model is
inductive thinking.

Assessment
The problems or cases you give the students have to
be age appropriate. At the end of the lesson
students should be able to:
1. Define the concept
2. Identify the concepts characteristics
3. Relate the concept to other concepts
4. Identify or supply examples of the concept
not previously encountered

Plan
Identify topics- Identify they general topics youre
going to teach
Specify learning objectives- Be very clear on the
objectives of that you feel are important
Select examples and non-examples- Select objects
to compare and contrast each other to help identify
material studies.
Sequence examples and non-examples- Arrange
examples so students are given as much practice as
you feel necessary.

Motivation
This model in itself it motivation because it is
intellectually puzzling. Students use this
model to identify ideas using examples and
non-examples. During this model students can
also work together in groups or as a class.

Implement
Phase 1: Introduction- Get students attention and
introduce new material
Phase 2: Examples and Hypothesizing-Show students
examples and non-examples and let the students form
their opinion on what they think the concept might be.
Phase 3: The Analysis Cycle-Show students examples
and non-examples, have students analyze their hypothesis
to see if they still believe their hypothesis or if it has
changed.
Phase 4: Closure and Application-After students have
formed and tested their hypothesis, they can state the
definition and identify the concepts of the material.

Modification
Make all students feel emotionally safe in the
classroom so that they feel comfortable
speaking freely and answering questions. You
can also use models that everyone will
understand.

So what? What is important to understand about this?

The concept attainment model is important to understand because it allows a way for the teacher to teach it as well as student interaction and group work
to allow students to work together to understand the concept and learn from and teach their fellow students to gain an in depth knowledge of the subject
matter.
