Visiting Bondi Beach – Sydney, Australia

Visiting Bondi Beach is a staple when traveling to Sydney as it is one of the most famous beaches in AUstralia. The beach is known for the beautiful sand and the aqua water that produces some great waves and home to various sea life including dolphins and whales. Bondi Beach blends ocean life together by having a vibrant downtown area full of cafes and restaurants.

The plan for today was to complete the Coogee to Bondi Coastal Walk – a six km walk that hugs the coastline taking visitors past a few beaches with beautiful views. For the first time since the beginning of the trip – there was not a cloud in the sky and the sun was in full glory so it was the perfect day for this! We started in Coogee Beach so that we could have lunch and enjoy Bondi Beach afterward without needing to backtrack.

We made it to Bondi Beach in the early afternoon and enjoyed the expansive downtown area. Our first stop was acai bowls at Bare Naked Bowls which came well recommended and I can confirm, it was delicious!

At 2PM, Kevin had surfing lessons. Ever since our Hawaii trip, he had wanted to try surfing again so when the opportunity came up on this trip, he was very excited to try again. I was good to sit and watch this time. While the weather was very warm, it was cold outside and I was not looking to feel like I was in a washing machine.

His lesson was through Let’s Go Surfing and he enjoyed everything about this session. The instructors were hands on when needed but gave students the ability to do it on their own which is what Kevin was looking for. The group size was small at five people to an instructor which seemed to be a good number.

And while I brought the computer to catch up on blogging, I had a fun time with the camera photographing Kevin surfing so I was perfectly happy from the sand.
