EXCLUSIVE: Emmanuelle Chriqui is coming aboard Super Troopers 2, the sequel to the 2001 feature comedy Super Troopers. The film, which will be released by Fox Searchlight, is underway in Boston now. Chriqui (Entourage) will play Genevieve Aubois, a French/Canadian cultural attaché focused on relations with the U.S.
“Emmanuelle and I met years ago and have been trying to work together ever since,” said ST2‘s writer/director Jay Chandrasekhar. “With Super Troopers 2, we found the perfect part and our worlds have finally aligned.”
Chriqui will next be seen in Hulu’s psychic drama Shut Eye opposite Jeffrey Donovan and KaDee Strickland. Set to release on December 7th, the series takes a darkly comedic look at the underground world of Los Angeles storefront psychics and the organized crime syndicate that runs them.
Broken Lizard, the comedy team behind the original film, raised over $4.5 million dollars to fund Super Troopers 2 during a crowd-funding campaign on Indiegogo last year, surpassing their initial goal of $2 million. Broken Lizard consists of Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske, all of which write and star in the film. Richard Perello, who also produced the original Super Troopers film, is on board again to produce this one.
Double Dutch International is selling international distribution rights.
Chriqui is represented by Management 360, Paradigm and Bloom Hergott Diemer Rosenthal Laviolette Feldman Schenkman & Goodman.
