I was thinking of the deluge of Sid Meier games and how that means that some slip through the cracks. One of the most underrated ones is the Nintendo DS version of Civilization Revolution.

This pocket-sized iteration perfectly condenses the model as a primer for anyone unfamiliar with the "4X" genre: Plop down a city, build a thing or two, maybe talk to a nation and then fight people!

A sequel would later be modeled after the console release, while also being a mobile exclusive for a long time. It did not do this action spinoff any favors 😔
