American poet, novelist, children's writer, and playwright Countee Cullen (born Countee LeRoy Porter) #DOTD in 1946, aged 42. Cullen was an influential part of the Harlem Renaissance. The Countee Cullen Library branch of the New York Public Library in Harlem was named in his honor.
