Spots on Leaves


Cercospora Leaf Spot

Scientific Name: Cercospora melongenae

 

Disease Type: Fungus

 

Plants Affected: Bean, beetroot, capsicum, okra, silver beet, watercress, carrot, avocado and coffee. 

 

Symptom:

  • Circular spots (4-10mm) with light to dark centers
  • Spots first on older leaves, progressing to younger

 

Control:

  • Minimize leaf wetness (e.g. improve aeration, no overhead sprinkler)
  • Remove infected plant parts from site
  • Incorporate synthetic or organic fungicide with good practices
