AMC’s The Prisoner reboot – CliqueClack giveaway

Prisoner Rover

AMC’s remake/retelling/reboot (let’s call it a reboot) of The Prisoner series kicks off this coming Sunday night at 8 PM Eastern on AMC. Some of you who’ve followed this site may remember I did a Virgin Diary review of the original series a few months ago. Honestly, I didn’t get as wrapped up in the series as some people have (not NEARLY as much, that’s for sure), but I did find an appreciation for it in how it influenced other mainstream shows and pop culture, even today. I’m definitely curious how a reboot of the series will turn out and whether the ending will be as much of a WTF moment as the original was.

To mark this occasion, we’re giving away a few Prisoner goodies!

Prisoner poster

In this giveaway we’re including one limited edition lenticular poster (motion activated — images change when you walk by them) and a 36″ diameter “personal Rover” (pictured at the top of this post). To enter, simply tell us if you’re planning on watching AMC’s The Prisoner Sunday night (or what you thought of it) by next Friday, November 20 at 5 PM EST. We’ll pick one recipient completely at random and alert them after the giveaway ends (make sure your spam filters aren’t blocking mail from @cliqueclack.com!). Only one entry per person, and you must have a valid U.S.-based mailing address. This giveaway is open to U.S. residents of 18 years of age or older only. Not following these guidelines voids your entry.

Good luck, and be seeing you….

I’m planning to watch. While I have yet to watch the original series I do plan on watching it after the reboot.

I’ve only seen a few episodes of the original, but I’m definitely watching this new version.

I already have it on the DVR queue.

I will probably record all of them, and watch the mini-series all in one day.

The TiVo is already set to record.

November 13, 2009 at 11:58 PM

I’m probably not going to watch it until it is available for rental on DVD.

Yes! Yes! Gonna watch, can’t wait!

I will be watching…or be seeing it.

I have already set it up to record on my HD DVR for the 3 nites and will probably save and watch back-to-back. I vaugely remember the original, and was not impressed with it. I did like the original major star in his previous series, and that is why I watched the first series. Hope this one is a lot better than the original prisioner.

Even as slavishly devoted as I am to the original series, I plan to watch the new series with an open mind – and I’m quite excited by the prospect of seeing it. I’ll probably keep it stored in my DVR queue until I get the DVD as well…… Be seeing you!

If I’m home I’ll be watching. All I remember about the first series is when The Simpsons did a episode about it 10ish years ago.

I plan on watching! AMC is always great about re-airing their shows if I should get silly and miss it the first night.

November 16, 2009 at 10:56 AM

Definitely watching it. I remember watching the original when it first aired, too.

I watched the original Prisoner for awhile and then got bored with the “sameness”. How did it end? All a dream?? Anyone want to say?
This version on AMC looks to be pretty good.

Questions are a burden to others,
answers a prison to oneself.

I thought the first installment was OK, but I also think I’m unfairly comparing it to the original a bit too much. Really, all they have in common is a loose premise, a numbering system and Rover. I enjoyed the inclusion of the Beach Boys song during the torture scene, however!

I’ll be watching. I love when these things get the “mini-series” treatment. A 2 hour movie would be too short to develop the story and a full season would probably disappoint. This is perfect.

I watched (or tried to watch) the first episode and fell asleep while it was on. It will be a while before I finish the series. However I would still like to win some free stuff!
