This year's Miss Universe pageant will be held on December 17.
Ever since 2004, when a Newcastle cheerleader named Jennifer Hawkins took out the crown, there's been growing interest in which young lady will represent Australia at the annual competition, which is not just based on beauty.
Be reminded of the Miss Universe Australia winners who have gone on to make their mark long after the pageant.
Scherri-Lee Biggs was crowned Miss Universe Australia 2011 and represented the country at Miss Universe 2011, placing in the top 10.
Biggs is currently the weather presenter for Nine News Perth. In October, she was confirmed to be a contestant on the upcoming season of The Celebrity Apprentice Australia for 2021.
Jennifer Hawkins wasn't the first! In 1972, Kerry Anne Wells was the first Miss Australia to take out the Miss Universe title, at the age of 21.
Now 67, Wells works as a fashion designer, writer and commentator.
It seemed like it was only after 2004 that Aussies seemed to care about the Miss Universe competition again, after a then-20-year-old Jennifer Hawkins was crowned the winner of the annual beauty pageant.
Since then, Hawkins, now 34, has become a successful businesswoman with her own swimwear, tanning and tequila lines. In 2013 she married her long-term boyfriend, Jake Wall, in Bali.
Australia's 2006 rep, Erin McNaught, was given the nickname McNaughty after some scantily-clad photos of the entrant were unearthed.
Now known as Erin Gleave, she didn't place her year, but the 36-year-old did land a presenting gig with MTV after the pageant. She met the musician Example (real name Elliot Gleave) during an interview, and they married in May 2013. They have two young sons together.
Laura Dundovic made it to the top 10 in her year.
Since being Miss Universe Australia, Dundovic has dabbled in modelling and TV presenting. She is also a certified personal trainer and nutrition coach.
Rachael Finch was the third runner-up of her year.
Now 30, Finch is focused on promoting health, fitness and body positive vibes. She also has two young children with her husband, Michael Miziner, who was her professional dance partner on the 2010 season of Dancing With the Stars.
Jesinta Campbell was the second runner-up of her year (so close!) but her sunny nature meant she was crowned Miss Congeniality.
These days, the 27-year-old goes by Jesinta Franklin after marrying AFL star Lance "Buddy" Franklin in 2016. She has held multiple fashion deals and appeared on several TV shows since her pageant.
Renae Ayris was 22 when she represented Australia in the 2012 Miss Universe competition. She placed fourth overall. (The winner that year was USA's Olivia Culpo, who was her roommate.)
Since then Ayris, now 28, has made a few reality TV appearances.
Francesca Hung's Miss Australia success has already been a win for diversity as she's half-Chinese.
However, the 24-year-old entrant in this year's pageant has already courted controversy after being caught up in bullying accusations. An Instagram Live session appeared to show Hung, Miss USA Sarah Rose Summers and Miss Colombia Valeria Morales making comments about Miss Cambodia and Miss Vietnam's inability to speak English.
