Karabiner KAR98 PUBG and the reality from the past to present

The Karabiner 98 k (also known as the Kar98 k or just K98 k) is a German military bolt-action rifle that Mauser originally manufactured. It’s most famous for serving as the standard issue rifle for Nazi Germany’s armed forces during World War II.

Karabiner KAR98 and PUBG

The Karabiner 98 Kurz (Kar98k) is a classic bolt-action rifle weapon in BATTLEGROUNDS.

The Karabiner 98 Kurz is the shortened derivative of the Mauser 98 chambered in 7.92x57mm Mauser. Adopted by the German Wehrmacht in 1935, it is considered to be the pinnacle of bolt action design of that era. The Mauser action has been nearly universally copied in every bolt action rifle since its introduction.

The Kar98k is highly sought after because of its ability to deal fatal damage against players wearing level 2 helmets, with only level 3 helmets able to protect their wearers from one shot kills assuming they are at more than 85% health. Because of this, it is a very good weapon for long-range engagements without having the risk of going to airdrops for the other bolt-action sniper rifles. Its main drawbacks are its slow reload time when reloading, with full reloads only being somewhat faster than reloading bullets individually, and its rather slow bullet velocity compensated with higher damage, making it more challenging to engage distant enemies, particularly if they are on the move.

The Kar98k will deal maximum damage out to 100 meters after which point damage will decrease, reaching its minimum at 485 meters.

The Kar98 k, one of the final evolutions in the prolific Mauser Rifle Series, is based on the earlier Kar98b and Mauser Standard Modell, all of which had their roots in the Gewehr 98. Like other German Mauser rifles, the Kar98k quickly gained a reputation for its reliability and accuracy. Germany produced over 14 million Kar98ks between 1935 and 1945.

From the past to the present

After World War II, massive quantities of Kar98ks were distributed by both the Soviet Union and the Western world to allied states worldwide. One of the most notable and somewhat ironic users of the Kar98k after World War II was the newly-founded state of Israel, which received a large number of Kar98ks and converted them to 7.62×51mm NATO. The Kar98k, alongside contemporaries like the Lee-Enfield and Mosin Nagant, continues to see active use on modern battlefields.

Karabiner 98k “Kriegsmodell” – 7.92x57mm Mauser. The “Kriegsmodell” (war model) was a late war simplification to the Kar 98k. This rifle is a “semi-Kriegsmodell” as it features simpler screw-retained barrel bands. The bayonet lug and cleaning rod have been omitted, while it retains the bolt disassembly disc in the buttstock. A rifle incorporating all simplification features is known as a “full-Kriegsmodell”. But these are rarer and were manufactured by only two factories (bnz and byf/svw).
