2017 Mitsubishi Fuso Canter FG4x4 w/Coachmen Clipper 16FB Camper

This 2017 Mitsubishi Fuso Canter FG4x4 was acquired by the current owner in June 2020 as a cab-over-engine chassis and was subsequently modified into an overland-style expedition vehicle with the addition of the camper body from a 2016 Coachmen Clipper 16FB travel trailer. Finished in white, the truck is powered by a 3.0-liter turbodiesel inline-four linked to a six-speed automatic transmission and a push-button transfer case. Additional equipment includes 17″ wheels, a spare-tire carrier, and a receiver hitch. The camper section is separate from the truck cab and features a kitchenette, a shower, a toilet, a sleeping platform, storage cabinets, an air-conditioning system, and holding tanks for water. This modified Fuso Canter shows 2k miles and is now offered by the seller on behalf of its owner with a clean California commercial title.

This standard-cab two-axle Fuso Canter is part of Mitsubishi’s FG cab-over truck series. Equipment on this example includes side steps, dual side mirrors, roof-mounted clearance lights, a steel rear bumper, rear mud flaps, and a receiver hitch. The truck and camper sections are finished in white, and body-side graphics adorn the camper. The seller states that the vehicle measures 252″ long, 85″ wide, and 146″ tall including the roof-mounted air conditioner.

Black 17″ steel wheels are mounted with 37×12.5″ Yokohama Geolandar M/T G003 tires, while a matching spare is secured at the back of the camper. The rear axle has been converted from a dually setup to a single-wheel arrangement. The truck is equipped with manually locking front hubs, and the suspension features leaf springs and solid axles. Braking is handled by drums at all four corners.

The camper body was originally manufactured by Forest River’s Coachmen division as a Clipper 16FB travel trailer, which was removed from its frame and attached to another frame on the truck chassis. The camper body features two windows on either side as well as a front window with a hard cover. The camper’s taillights have been replaced with clearance lights like those positioned elsewhere on its exterior. The seller notes that the rig lacks steps or a ladder leading up to the camper’s entry door, nor does the vehicle have an onboard generator.

The cab interior features seating surfaces trimmed in blue cloth upholstery along with a color-coordinated dashboard and door panels. Amenities include carpeted flooring, air conditioning, cruise control, power windows, power locks, and a Clarion CD stereo with Bluetooth connectivity.

The two-spoke steering wheel frames a central digital display, a 100-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 4,200-rpm redline, and a fuel-level gauge. The digital odometer indicates 2,100 miles.

The camper is equipped with a closet, overhead storage compartments, household-style electrical outlets, interior lighting, window shades, a mirror, a Jensen AM/FM/CD stereo, and audio speakers. Climate control is via a Coleman-Mach air-conditioning system, and a separate furnace is controlled by a Suburban Manufacturing Company thermostat. The kitchenette is equipped with a High Pointe microwave, a Suburban gas cooktop stove, a sink, a Dometic refrigerator, and an Intelli-View digital tank-monitoring system. The lavatory contains a toilet and a shower. Holding tanks for fresh water, gray water, and black water are positioned beneath the camper.

The camper’s interior height is 76”. One mattress is located at the front of the camper. A dinette table and bench seating have been removed, and the area remains unfinished. Wear is noted in various places inside the camper, as pictured in the gallery below.

The Mitsubishi Fuso 4P10 3.0-liter turbodiesel inline-four is accessible underneath the tilting cab and was factory rated at 161 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. An oil change was performed in preparation for the sale.

Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission and a push-button transfer case. Corrosion is visible on underside components, and additional underbody photos are presented in the gallery below. Dual propane tanks are mounted adjacent to the truck’s diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) tank.

The seller states that the camper lacks a title. Labels on the side of the camper body note the VIN 5ZT2CWEC4G5109000.

The Carfax report for the truck shows no accidents or other damage and lists history in California beginning in August 2018.
