This Datsun 240Z got away, but there are more like it here.

This 1972 Datsun 240Z was acquired by the seller in 2018 as a rolling project car and subsequently modified and refurbished. The car is refinished in blue over black upholstery and powered by a 5.7-liter LS1 V8 paired with a Tremec six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Additional equipment includes front and rear fender flares, 17″ Rota wheels, adjustable coilovers, Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes, electric power steering, tubular headers, a front air dam and rear spoiler, Recaro seats, a Vintage Air climate control system, an Auto Power roll bar, a B&M short shifter, a Grant steering wheel, Speedhut gauges, and a Vintage Sound head unit. This 240Z is now offered with service records, literature, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The body was fitted with molded fiberglass fender flares, a front air dam, and a ducktail rear spoiler under previous ownership before being repainted in the current shade of Chrysler’s Intense Blue Pearlcoat. Additional equipment includes black-finished bumpers and trim, aftermarket headlights, European-specification front running lights, a Skillard aluminum front grille, and dual side mirrors. Clear film is applied to the front section of the hood and in front of the rear fender flares. Scratches are noted on the side and rear glass.

Aftermarket 17″ Rota wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich g-Force Sport COMP-2 tires sized 245/45 in front and 275/40 in the rear. A matching spare with a Hankook Ventus tire is mounted in the trunk. Bad Dog Parts frame rail stiffeners have been added along with a Silvermine Motors electric power steering kit. The suspension is fitted with CRX Racing adjustable coilovers, billet aluminum monoball front and rear control arms, a front strut tower brace, and front and rear sway bars. Braking is handled by Wilwood calipers over cross-drilled rotors controlled by a Wilwood brake proportioning valve.

The cabin is fitted with a pair of Recaro seats equipped with five-point G-Force Racing Gear harnesses. Sound deadening is applied under the replacement carpets, and additional equipment includes an Auto Power roll bar, a Vintage Air climate control system, aluminum Skillard sill plates, and a B&M short shifter with a Chevrolet shift knob as well as a dashboard cover, cup holders, and a Vintage Sound head unit mounted behind the seat. A crack is noted in the dashboard, the center console is cracking, the left dashboard vent is disconnected, the wipers don’t park automatically, and the rear defroster, reverse lights, horn, and dome light are inoperative.

A Grant steering wheel frames a 10k-rpm tachometer and a Speedhut 160-mph speedometer with an integrated fuel level gauge. Auxiliary AutoMeter gauges for oil temperature, oil pressure, and coolant temperature are mounted atop the center stack. The digital odometer shows 7k miles, and the total mileage is unknown.

The 5.7-liter LS1 V8 is said to have been sourced from a 2004 Pontiac GTO and is fitted using a John’s Cars Inc. installation kit. Additional equipment includes Corvette-branded coil pack covers, a K&N air filter, a Griffin radiator, a Spal electric fan, a 15.9-gallon fuel tank, a Holley fuel pump, and ceramic-coated headers routed to a fabricated 3″ exhaust system and MagnaFlow mufflers. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a Tremec T56 six-speed manual transmission, a custom driveshaft, a Nissan R200 limited-slip differential, and Wolf Creek Racing CV rear half-shafts. Additional photos of the underside are provided in the image gallery.
