PSP v2.0 firmware now out in Japan

Early adopters rejoice! Sony adds tons of asked-for features with the upgrade …

Those of you resourceful enough to have found it on your own will probably have it installed already, but Sony has just released v2.0 of the PSP firmware for Japan.  A user on the ATRACLife forums has posted his initial thoughts on the new features, and he seems pretty impressed with the updates to the software.  The Web browser (finally!) gets lots and lots of love, as evinced by the lengthy review and lots of photos.

Definitely slower and less than the PC experience, but I think SCE deserves a lot of credit. The jaws of most Clie users will definitely drop at how good the PSP browser is vis-a-vis NetFront 3.0. Apart from the lack of a touch screen, the GUI is more fluid, the rendering is better.

The scrolling is very nice - I didn't know the "speaker net" I've been fiddling with is the analog stick! Multiple tabs can be opened and cycled through, but there isn't a "tabs bar" that shows you how many are open and what they are at a glance.

The Japanese firmware does have the option to switch languages, so all you early adopters can check out the Sony press release (translated) and download site for further details.  No ETA yet on the US firmware release, but it should be available within a couple of weeks.
